Looking for a half ham for Christmas. I feel like they're pretty much all the same but prices seem to fluctuate from about $80 - $130.
Anyone know the cheapest place to get one? Or any reason why i might want to spend more on one.

Prime Range Fresh
303 Colombo St Sydenham
They have half ham on the bone at $12.50 per kg.
This looks like the place. They've got a few other well priced products as well.
Do you happened to know if they mentioned on the title "2kg bag", the price that they display is for 2kg or per kg?
2kg ham on bone for $12.50 would be mental cheap, or dodgy meat.
I got mine from paknsave for $9.99 per kg.
Haven't been in a while but it might be worth checking out the Hellers factory shop.
Their prices for ham aren't that different (if at all) from what you get at the supermarket.
While you can certainly sometimes get some great deals out there (go before the staff finish at 3 cause the really cheap stuff is also the stuff they give to staff daily as part of their perks), most of the time you're saving a maybe a dollar.
In the case of ham - on the bone was cheaper at Pak n Save most of the time last year.
They also only had one huge $180 one when I was there a few days ago.
They do have ham off the bone in "all $xx random weights" (all about the same weight). I want to say about $20 for what looked like maybe 1.5kg? But wasn't really looking.
There are a few quality variables to compare when shopping for hams.
Water %
High water % hams will be cheaper but really you are just paying for water. Christmas is a special occasion so I'd just stick to low water % for a more hammy ham and less water.
Country of origin
NZ pork has to be raised to a higher welfare standard than many places we import ham from. I think this bring both an ethical and flavour difference to the meat. NZ lamb will be telling you about it if its from NZ and it'll cost a little more.
Fake ham
Some ham products are more processed than others and sit somewhere on the spectrum of a peice of meat on the bone to spam. Bone on ham tastes better in my opinion. Usually hams are cut in two. Bottom end of the leg is more fatty and easier to slice (my personal preference) where the other side is a bit leaner. This is really just a personal preference thing.
Happy ham hunting.
Beckenham Butchery does them but prices vary if you want bone in or not.
