Visa Phishing Email?

I just received an email 2 hours ago from from: Visa Click to Pay <[email protected]>
sending me a one-time code and the email look like this. Anyone know is this legit?

I don't have any "Visa account", the only one I can think of is the Visa Debit card from my NZ bank.
Is there anything I need to worry about at this stage and do I need to contact anyone for this? Cheers

If in doubt, call your bank.

I got the exact email and had the same thoughts. Didn't click anything as I was 100% sure, I had not done any transactions at that time. Secondly, I only have visa debit card which I never use and is not linked to any online profile.

If you don't have a Visa card then it's highly likely a phishing email, attempting to get you to click on the "Didn't request the code?" link.
Forward it to [email protected] which is their suspicious email reporting address and then delete it.

  • Update:

I send an email to [email protected] and got the following respond:

    Dear XX,

Thank you for contacting Visa Customer Support. I apologize for any inconvenience. At Visa, we take the security of your information very seriously. • I haven't disclose any of my details in the email to her, no account, card number, name etc, no even send her the email i received,
but she immediately replied me with my first name, and removed Visa click to pay from my account?
The only thing I mentioned was I have an Visa Debit with ANZ. Wonder where did she pull all my information?? Just by my email address?

    • Your name is in the email image you uploaded. Otherwise if they have that particular email address logged against your account they'd be able to get it that way. With name and time they can probably quite easily pull up all account activity. Your bank is only a proxy for Visa. It's Visa that provide the network for processing.

  • Ok, I just double checked my Domino's order this morning which was the same time as I received the Visa one-time code, when i checked out and pay for my Domino's, it doesn't prompt me to insert a one-time code when I paed. If the one-time code on the email is for Dominos, can anyone explain how does this works?

    • Domino's will most probably be using a third party payment processor. That processor hooks into the Visa network to process your payment. So it's not really Domino's that are asking for the one time code it's the credit card processor/your bank/Visa network asking for the one time code to process your transaction and use 2 factor authentication. Here's a bit of background https://www.fisglobal.com/en/insights/merchant-solutions-wor…

  • I had same email and it was at same time as ordering dominos online.. Funny though because I chose to pay by (cash) option on pick up so no transaction was attempted upon order confirm. Usually with my visa debit with some online purchases I would recieve a text on my phone with code to proceed with two time authentication. Never in 8 years has it been an email 🤔

    • Now that explains mine as well. Did the same. ordered dominos online and selected to pay by cash. Wonder they have a glitch in there online processing where if you select cash, it uses email address to send request for payment though it would be ignored going forward. And as the email is linked to visa via ANZ received the code.
