Few people I know with the slim said they get hotter & ones had a couple of heat related crashes - but his place is a basement so no airflow. Beisdes that I don't think theirs any component change out really
I don't think theirs any component change out really
Yeah, that's what I saw on the breakdown video. They basically just refitted the same components on slimmer chasis.
Really?
That's odd. Slim models aren't for the consumers sake. They're usually resigns using newer/cheaper components (sometimes intergrating multiple ones) due to technology marching on/ongoing delelopments.
Of course the old components will be cheaper to produce by this point I guess. Just got to wonder the point of putting them in a new housing rather than just lowing the cost and keep producing the original…. Actually I've prob just answered my own question - they can prob make proportionally more with a new price on a new model than lowering the old.
@LupinS: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tCGZ6pkbD5E this is the video that I saw.
power consumption doesn't seem to be better either. Only goodside according to him is the location for the CMOS battery.
@LupinS: yes you did, its the same as the 1200 series (same 6nm die and power draw.) just a new pcb and less heatsink, the first gen were 7nm.

It works out to be about 848GB vs 665GB of usable storage.
Either way you’d most likely need an additional nvme drive. In my opinion that $140 price difference would be better off spent towards an extra nvme drive
Yeah, I'm planning to get NVME drive anyway, so perhaps I'll just get the cheaper one since the performance is no difference.
How to do that please?
i dont know i just used the above code
added to cart and thats what it come up as??
Can you share the screenshot? This is what mine (and most people) shows probably: https://files.cheapies.nz/upload/12735/4784/ps5.png

@TakaraAsahi: Do you have Warehouse staff buying rates on your account?
If you do that will drop the price to $675.97
Click 'View Discounts" and see if it says 'TWG 5% Team Discount" as well as the 'TWG 5% Shareholder discount'.
@bigcheese: That's probably it. It's 5% discount from $711.55 which would've explain the price as you said.
@TakaraAsahi: Why white out the info under 'Promo code'?
Works on pre-order too, so down to $360.05 if anyone is interested in the PS Portal.
Don't need one now but will definitely getting one with GTA 6, but hope there will be a PS5 pro then.
I've tried it on themarket but didn't think of trying it directly on the warehouse.
Am looking for one atm, contemplating whether I go for the 'fat' vs slim version, and whether to just wait for boxing day deal.
The difference between fat and slim is just the size and the storage (1TB vs 825Gb). Anyone can chime in on rec?
