Z Sharetank Cheapest & Last 0.24L

Gidday can anyone share how do i find the cheapest Z 91 in the country to top up sharetank and is BlueStacks still working with the Z app?

I just tried to use up my last 50L in my Sharetank and it doesn't let me instead stop filling up at the last 0.24L, anyone know why and how do I use it all up if I decided not to use sharetank anymore? Cheers

For that, I'd suggest contacting ShareTank and asking them. There might be some minimum balance (maybe 250ml) although I'm not sure why that would be.

  • I also have 0.2L remaining as it wasnt letting me use it. Im not buying anymore petrol so its slightly annoying that i couldnt use it as the pump stopped pumping

    • Topup minimum use the remaining full?

Yeah but for some reason the pump stopped pumping and the car wasnt full. Minimum is 2l to unlock the pump

    Just eat the 60c man

You might not think it's a big problem, but I've had the same issue and where it starts "costing" more than the frustrating 0.2L left in your tank is when they offer bonus litres for top up. Last time I tried, and I tried a couple of times, you simply can't get rid of the last bit of the tank and you can't get the max bonus by buying 1000L: because it will only let you buy 999.8L or whatever.

  • Had the same issue when I filled up the vehicle with diesel. Pump stopped pumping and I was left with 0.19L left in my sharetank… couldn’t get it to pump the remaining balance.

@Sharetank Dude, you don't happen to have any insight on how to empty the Sharetank, perchance?

    • Pay inside the shop

  • Same issue here, it wouldn't pump the last 0.3L of diesel

    • Hey everyone. Yes, its been an issue, and so far the only resolution I have found is stopping the balance of litres at 2L. Starting a new fill(with the setting of charging your card for any extra litres), but then stopping at 2L.

That kinda made sense to me, hopefully it helped. Z are aware of this issue but haven't done anything in regards to rectifying it.

Do you mean if you stop at 2L then next time you can use up the whole 2L and empty the account?

        • Yeah i believe (from my understanding), have yet to try), but since:

          • Minimum fill is 2L
          • Have a balance of 2L or more.
          • Set your Debit Card account to $1 or more(authorization fee etc) to continue the fill once you run out. Important to just move the rest of the funds to another account or else you may get charged more.
          • This SHOULD(in theory), use the total balance + the little bit from the card.
  • This is the most illogical and stupid thing about sharetank. I have the same issue it stops pumping before using all your fuel.

I asked z and apparently the only way to use all your balance is by pumping petrol then going to pay inside, pay with the remaining few mills in your sharetank and pay the rest cash. It's ridiculously stupid

Anyone else seeing 91 at Z Taradale as $1.968 on Gaspy??

    • It definitely isnt correct though… $2.599

      • +1

Darn! Would have been a good 1000L top up.

        • Hahaha. Yeah… eatch out though and keep the funds handy as I get the feeling youll get the chance soon (not financial advice)

So i got mine to 0…. Just make sure your balance is sxactly what it says on the app. You can do that by:

    • USE MY FUEL
    • Scan QR Code before fuelling.

Downside is you still have to pay inside

  • As of today:

    Cheapest Z 91 is at Bethehem $2.559.
    Cheapest Z 95 is at Bethehem $2.749.

Both with multiple price confirmations. My automation automatically checks for this daily and only informs me of a price drop when there is at more than 1 price confirmation and only when the price drop meets my threshold for both 91 and 95. I only care about it enough when 91 is below $2.20 and 95 is below $2.50.

Sharetank spoofing on my Android still works fine on both old and new Z app.

    • How do you do this? Sounds very cool, looking forward to the next price mistake

It's quite complex but the gist of it is this:

First I add all the Z stations to Favourites in Gaspy. This allows me to quickly view the cheapest Z station by sorting fuel price under Favourites.

I then set up automation using Macrodroid on Android and this will automatically tap certain elements in Gaspy and then send out a text message or trigger a webhook when the price threshold condition is met.

All of this is backed up and so I can easily restore them onto a different device and get up and running within 5 minutes.

    • What app do you use for spoofing? or how do you do the spoofing?

It's not a one-size fits all solution and it's definitely not for beginners, especially if you're not techy. But generally speaking, you'd need:

        • A rooted Android device. This is required in order to hide certain settings or apps on the phone so that Z app thinks your phone is not modified in any way.

        • Once you're rooted, you need to hide root, which requires you to spoof the PlayIntegrity service to show that your device is unmodified and passes security integrity checks. PlayIntegrity has superceded SafetyNet btw, which used to be really easy to spoof. If you're using a Xiaomi Android device, you could potentially flash the Xiaomi.EU custom ROM, which comes with the PlayIntegrity fix pre-installed. Alternatively, you can install PlayIntegrityFix made by developers on XDA forum or elsewhere. This process can be quite tricky and challenging in itself.

        • You'd also potentially need to use Shamiko, Hide My Applist and Hide Mock Location modules. The last one will hide the fact that you're spoofing location. Apps such as Pokemon Go or Z can detect if you're spoofing location, so this will hide it.

        • You'll then need an app to spoof location, such as Location Changer (my favourite) or Fake GPS.

That's about the gist of it. If done right, then Z shouldn't know about your phone being rooted, shouldn't know about your location being spoofed and it'll just think you have a legit stock Android device with a location set to somewhere (which isn't your true location obviously).

I also wrote a basic guide here, but that might be outdated now as Google Play Services has updated to enforce PlayIntegrity detection:

Alternatively, you could try to spoof location using an Android emulator like Bluestacks. I just much prefer to do this on my phone as I don't need to fire up my emulator every time I want to top up my sharetank. Also, in terms of rooting and using Magisk or LSPosed modules, Android emulators are very limited in that space and so I prefer to have full control over this on a real Android device. If one day the Z developers updates the code to check if you're using an emulator, then you'd be screwed. But on a real phone, you can do a lot more to hide things.

P.S - the above also works for enterprise solutions like hiding root from Microsoft Teams, or banking apps. If your company blocks you from copying anything to the clipboard or downloading data to your device, well this can bypass that. Not encouraging anyone to do it, but just for educational purposes.

        • cheers for the guide, got this to work on an old Redmi A2 lite. Only thing left out out i think was to ensure you hide magisk at the end or it detects your device is rooted

          • +1

@dave8501: Yep, that's required as well. Part of hiding root.

            • @NovaAlpha: Mock location works now, but my device says the buy time has timed out and I can't purchase fuel. Any idea on how to get around this

              • @dave8501: Can you take a screenshot? Don't think I've seen it before.

I'm also using an older version of Z app. It's still v2 and not the old Z app, but the build I'm using isn't the latest. I've chosen to hide certain apps from the Play Store (using Hide my Applist) so that it will never show up and I'll never accidentally update it. Maybe your buy time thing is a new feature in the latest build.

Do you get that when you don't spoof location?

                UPDATE:

Actually I just checked Z app and every time you want to top up your Sharetank, it will have a countdown timer of 10 minutes to hold the price for you. It tells you that on the screen. I'm guessing that once you got to that screen, the timer countdown and it elapsed the 10 minutes. You probably just need to close the app and relaunch it and topup again.

              • @dave8501: Ignore that. Started working again once I chucked a SIM card in the phone. Must've been something to do with the system time or something. But the countdown was always at 0 until I chucked in the simcard

  • Hi all. We have received an email from Z Energy requesting certain comments relating to Z app spoofing to be taken down. Please see merchant takedown notice here. While discussions aren't against ChoiceCheapies' terms of use, please beware that it's against Z Energy's terms and conditions to automate price checking and spoof location.

LOL. Sounds like we have a spy lurking on Cheapies.

@Mr Spy - what would Z do if people were to take screenshots of the instructions and upload the image to an image host? Posting an image link from an external site isn't actually a "discussion".

      • Well done @NovaAlpha! While I don't use the method myself - only fill up about once a month and the hassle of it - it would appear there's no easy way for Z to prevent it (or they'd have done it) and there must be enough people using it for them to notice.

The big four (well three now that Z & Caltex are the same owner) have had it far too good for too many years. Their anti-competitive practices have resulted in consistently higher prices in areas where there's less competition e.g. Wellington CBD.

  • So is there still no way to redeem that last bit of Sharetank at the pump?
