As appliances go I'd give the V8 a solid 10/10. Use it everyday.

    • Agreed. The V8 model doesn't require the stick to be removed to empty either, so is very convenient.

Dyson though, keep your receipt and push if you have a battery fail. Our battery lasts about a year and a half, and we rarely use the max power mode setting. We've had it replaced twice by dyson but are now out of warranty.

      • It seems they want their batteries to fail. I've had 2 Dysons and the battery has failed on both after 1 year to 1.5 years. It's a feature.

But when you've spent like mega bucks on a vacuum like this even on a discoint it isn't good enough.

        • Not disagreeing with you on the battery, however Dyson seemed to have good aftersales service, at least for me.

Have a V6 that the battery died after 2.5years, contacted dyson and get replaced for free somehow (was going to argue CGA but there is no charge). Failing again after 1 year, replaced under warranty and given another 1 year warranty on the battery.

That's a V6 running for 5 years now and still strong. The only complaint I have is the size of the dust bin.

@spam: That may be the case but it highlights the flaw in their products. If you bought a 2k mobile phone you don't expect it to be fixed in 12 months, then again in another 12 months, irrespective of how good the warranty is.

It's a vacuum, and no one should spend more time doing anything else other than that, lol.

The problem with these Dysons is the controller. Keeping them charged at 100% 24 seven eventually destroys at least one cell. If they had a switch that would limit there charging to 80% these batteries would last at least five years. I've replaced batteries twice and now I use my Dewalt flex volt with an adapter for my V6, last a couple of months but only uses for small tidy up jobs anyway. I use another V6 at my batch and that only lasted two years, but only minimal use. So now I unplug it and that was four years ago . I have also taken the battery pack apart and found the cells charge 100% only 4 being faulty after a few charges so I suppose it's a bonus getting 18 18650 batteries.

      • You can get adapters so you can use power tool batteries, just search aliexpress for what ever brand of tools you have batteries for

        • The issue is why spend mega bucks only to spend more money after 12 months? Makes zero sense.

          • @Discount Code: zero sense for consumer not for manufacture.
i sold the battery and i use my power tools, been using the same one for a few years now.

I run makita batteties on my v8 and it's great. A 5Ah battery lasts ages and if it goes flat mid-vacuum I swap it out for another.

Unfortunately there are no adapters for my v10 (voltage at 25V is too far out for a makitas 18v.

We had a V8 and I would not recommend (on hard floor and carpet). It would miss a lot that a regular vacuum would easily pick up. Battery life wasn’t great either. Replaced it with a V15 Detect and so far that has been very good all round albeit more expensive.

      Lol like $1000 more expensive.

Agree with larger items on hard floor, its better but not perfect on floors eg. Cat biscults.

For dust, hair and smaller objects it works great.

I think the carpet forms more of an encased area of suction.

  • I got Dyson v8 on boxing day i would say it's fantastic it's the lightest Dyson it's compact it's easy to empty rubbish . It's also a sealed vaccum it makes a difference which I though would not

  • I have the v7, is the v8 much of an upgrade?

    • May be check YouTube videos I think v7 is discontinued,

  • This deal expired at midnight last night but still appears to be available on The Warehouse app (with$7 shipping) and also separately via the Dyson NZ website
