    it says validation starts when you activate it, sounds like we can buy it now and not used it until the Japan trip is happening later. Excellent find - thank you.

      Correct, you can buy it beforehand and even load it on your phone. It gets activated once you're in the country and it can find the network. For Japan when we used it there was a requirement to have WiFi for the activation part.

    It says expires on Jan 31st at GMT0+ time. Where did you get expires 4th Feb, OP?
    Not sure if that means the last minute of the last day of the month or the first minute of the last day of the month?
    I assume it’s the first minute of the last day of the month, therefore expires 1pm NZDT on Jan 31.
    Note NZ is 13 hours ahead of GMT0 time.
