  • This is a targeted offer, doesn't show in my app.

    • I think it’s just expired, not targeted.
Was showing in my app yesterday but not now.

    • Not targeted I was able to see It and redeem it last night

Seems to correspond with the timing of the BK90 deal with the BNZ Breakers (which is, if the Breakers score 90 points or more in a game, ticket holders can get a free Whopper Jr till the end of the following day by showing their ticket at BK).

Breakers played Friday night, scoring 94, and are about to play again at 4pm so offer might be back showing in the app around 6pm Sunday till end of Monday if they have a good game!

Is it me or have their prices even with coupons have gone up heaps?
Now Maccas have better deals. Never thought I'd never say that.

Yup you're 100% correct. Not sure why they bothered making a new app no one was going to use.

Was my go to BK but not anymore. A shame as they do have better burgers than Maccas.

    • Yep last half of the year the prices went up, now i go past BK i dont even bother to look at the deals as they are below average.

      • It's always so quiet when I go past BK. Now Maccas are more busy locally. The tables have turned.

        • The bk app is garbage which does more harm than good, maccas has a great app and reward system that brings in more business, i was never a customer before.

          • @coffeee: Dunno I haven't used the new app, but I always preferred the old Burger King app to the McDonald's one since they actually let you order on it here in NZ. (I know McDonald's app elsewhere let you order.)

Also Burger King seemed to have a lot more good deals, especially their BOGO ones on promo burgers. Technically these were one time use only but since it was only enforced per account, well you know. And unlike McDonald's you didn't have to fool around with multiple phone accounts since they didn't tie it do your Android device ID. And since they often had double or triple rewards at the weekends, even with multiple accounts, you could easily hit the highest level reward of a combo with one of their fancy burgers with only a few BOGO. Only issue was they sometime randomly killed the BOGO deal well before the date on the coupon.

McDonald's deals were mostly crap except for the November and March ones. I mean you might pay $9 for a Big Mac and cheese burger with tiny chips or something whereas with BK you could pay $11 and get two decent sized burgers, generally at least as big as a Big Mac.

Although at least McDonald's started to let you use their app deals on kiosks a few years back unlike their old dumb system where you would have to show the redeemed the deal on you phone and show it within 3 minutes. And so if you were worried there might be problems you had to time it right and redeem in line and hope the person in front didn't take unexpectedly long. Worse was if you were there at 2250 and the deal was ending at 2300 and the line took ages. You might have to redeem the deal and hope for the best. And if it ended up after 2300, the person at the counter would need to get the manager's card and do a lot of swiping to get it to work.

For various reasons (not related to the price or deals or food or whatever) I used BK a lot less the last year or so, so I don't know what it's been like since then.

        • Interesting, where I'm from McDonald's in West Auckland, has been way more popular than Burger King for at least 15 years, I'd say forever. Definitely well before apps.

      • BK was sold off to Tahua Partnes a couple of years ago. It is now owned by the same group that bought Starbucks a few years back.

So similar story - subar food and bad service at relatively high price points.
I do say thay about BK since a burger on its own from say Burger Burger is more than enough as a meal whereas BK you probably need sides.

        • yea, they went into receivership and the agreement was to close the ones in queen street.i would get the two salad burgers for 13.50 which was enough.

  • I have this offer today, which wasn't there yesterday - Sundae Sunday: Free Sundae with any order over $5 (Mobile Order Only)

    • Same, the OP one is gone too.

    • I had both on Sunday a week ago, was quite good to use both even if meant making 2 orders.
The Sundae Sunday is there every week just so you know

BK has gone downhill. Last year they put prices up and staff at my local always seems to be rude and lazy. My family and I had BK twice last year and both times we had food poisoning symptoms straight after. I think it's something to do with how they are handling or storing the food. I don't know about others but my local (Mt Roskill) is consistently bad and has put me off for good.

    • eww, that roskill one is dirty even though the store is refurb, i dont eat the chicken there due to getting sick at the new lynn branch, i think the best one (if there is such a thing) is the one in albany.

    • Since well before COVID.

My local one had no shakes or sundays for literally two years. But you could still order them on the app. Then they refused to give a refund, saying because it was on the app I'd have to contact the.number on the app to get a refund because they didn't get the money, and they was no way to turn off the opition for the E tire city…

Unfortunately for them I knew all of the above was false. There is no phone number in the app, they get the money like a normal transaction, and obviously you can turn on avaible products at your store! And I knew all that mostly cause I helped test the app (the original one. Don't blame me for the clunky, slow, apparently never tested new one.)
