Good day fellow cheapies! I would like to get your opinions and/or suggestions regarding house plants. I am planning to gift my wife an indoor plant this coming Feb 14. Would like to see recommendations if you have any. I think it's better than buying bouquet of flowers that will wilt in a few days.

- Where do you think the plant will go (sunny or shady area)
- is she good with plants
- what’s your budget
- can it be any plant or something a bit more pretty
- how big are you wanting it
- does it have to be kid/pet friendly (might eat it)
Peace lily and ZZ are pretty hard to kill and look nice once they get big. I’ve got both in my office and at home.
There are a lot of different houseplants to choose from.
Before rushing out to buy something though I would think about where you want to put it.
Houseplants generally require bright, indirect light (such as through a window) rather than dimly lit corners so think location first and then pick something that fits.
A lot of them also like a bit of humidity but dislike draft so avoid near opening doors.
Also, do you like flowers or foliage or both?Examples could include things like a moth orchid, peace lily, flamingo flower, monstera, philodendron, chain of hearts
Whatever you get, do not get a fiddle-leaf fig plant. They are the worst plant for newbies as they stress over everything - new location, too sunny, not enough sun, too hot, too cold, the list goes on.
