CSC/1team Discounts - Access Deals from 51 NZ Retailers for Free via The Pay It Now App

Christchurch based company, Pay It Now recently teamed up with 1Team to bring CSC Buying Group discounts to their app (The PIN Network App) available on Google Play and IOS

You can access the deals via the Apps 'Promotional Tab', and gives you deals/discounts and offers from over 50 major retailers in NZ such as Warehouse Stationary, JB Hifi, Repco, Placemakers, Pita Pit, Coffee Club, PB Tech, Tower Insurance and heaps more.

Once you create your free account, just head to the SHOP menu, then select 'Promotional Offers' to see the full list of stores. Each deal has a different redemption method, so scroll through and check them all out. There’s no crazy terms and conditions, just an awesome list of exclusive offers.

The app is completely free to sign up, and there’s no cost to access the promotional offers. As the app also doubles as a financial digital wallet, yes you will need to KYC as a once off, in order to setup your account (Sorry for the hassle, as a financial services provider we are required to do this for AML/CFT compliance)

Just thought I’d let everyone know as it seems like everything is becoming so expensive day by day, it's literally free access to discounts the general public don't normally get access to (Unless your employer is signed up with 1Team) and we wouldn't want this awesome feature we integrated to go to waste

Enjoy! 😊

  • For anyone who accesses the deals on our app/checks out what's on offer, please drop a comment here, we'd love your feedback!

Because we don't charge users to access the app, we don't make any money off sign-ups. We're simply just spreading the love, far out - Kiwi's deserve a break, especially if we can all save a couple $$$ on our shopping then that's good for everyone. We first introduced this feature to reward our current user base, but now we just want everyone New Zealander to have access, because why not?

    Thanks everyone

  • Does it require installing software to use?

    Is there no web option?

    • Hi Alan, the 1Team discounts have been integrated into our app (The PIN Network App) which is available on both Android and Apple. There's deals/offers from more than 50 NZ Retailers, so too many to post individually unfortunately, the in-app offers don't have expiry dates, and are available to use at all times, all year round. We have had feedback from some users that staff may ask to see the offer details within app before applying the discounts, so to redeem most of the deals you will need to have the app available to show (As an example, Warehouse Stationary staff need to scan their barcode at the till)

No worries - its just very 'nineties' to have to install software to use something, so I'll give it a pass, but if you get a web presence up and running, please do 'announce' that as I'm sure it will expand your potential audience significantly.

        • +2

Personally I believe it's even more 'nineties' to only have a website, everything seems to be an app now.

          • @kfr23: Yeah absolutely, can be a bit annoying but it's definitely a newer not older thing to do. Just look at the new rewards card.

            @kfr23:

Personally I believe it's even more 'nineties' to only have a website, everything seems to be an app now.

In the nineties everyone wanted you to install their software, some also had websites but certainly not everyone.

As you progressed into the noughties, websites (Web2.0 as people started calling it sometime into the noughties if I recall correctly) became everything, since you didn't have to install (potentially risky) software, and it meant that the provider only had to maintain a single 'application' being their site, rather than do Windows, and then decide if it was worth bothering with Apple and / or Linux (generally not worth it due to such small market share).

Consider Steve Jobs statement when they launched the iPhone that they would not support 'apps', as there was no point - you could just put a link to the website on the phone, and everyone would have 24/7 internet access. Obviously they worked out that they couldn't make enough money that way, and had to figure out a way to get people to pay for apps through their store (30% share of the purchase price?), so he lost that one to the accountants, but they didn't want to go bust again like they had previously - the right call from a dollar perspective!

Everyone wanting you to install their app on your phone only really became a big thing in the late noughties and on.

For me, I won't install random software willy-nilly as it is a really bad idea, but I totally appreciate that most people don't understand the risks and will just do it without thinking - each to their own :-)

            • @Alan6984: Well said, yeah you can never be too careful these days especially with random software encountered via the internet. Most apps available via Google Play or App Store are vetted and verified before they're made available to the public. What trips most people up is entering in CC info without knowing what they are getting into or forgetting to un-subcribe from a trial period.

          • @kfr23: Everything is now a website disguised as an app with tools like electron wrappers and similar tools on iOS/Android.

        • That's fair, thanks for the feedback. As we're essentially a digital wallet e.g Financial App it may be a little difficult to make these offers available via web access. It was simply a feature we added in to reward/enhance our user's experience while shopping using our wallet's payment system. Our app will always be free, so if you ever do decide to download it, you only have to sign up once and you'll have access to the deals for atleast the next 12months (Why I say 12months is after that period, as a company we'll decide if we should continue paying for this feature to keep them in our app) The response so far from our users has been super positive, so we'd ideally like to expand the range of discounts overtime and keep it a permanent feature moving forward

  • Is Noel Leeming available in the app?
They offer CSC discounts too but I don’t see them listed.

    • I did ask for Noel Leeming when we first signed off on the integration. The tier level we are on unfortunately doesn't include Noel Leeming (But yes, I'm aware Noels are CSC members) but we did get Warehouse Stationary and Torpedo 7. However, JB HIFI and PB Tech aren't bad alternatives :)

  • Downloaded the app, attempted to register, OTP never worked, shrugs.

    • That's super frustrating, sorry Fox419. We are in the process of changing KYC providers for NZ users to smooth out the sign-up process. Currently we are being forced to use Persona (A US based software) which isn't the fluid. Just a quick note on KYC if you're wondering, as we're a digital payment provider & registered FSP, we have to KYC all users to the app for AML/CFT compliance. The apps main function is to operate as a digital wallet, it's not a discount or loyalty app as such, the promotional offers is just an added enhancement we recently included for our existing user base

  • Do i have to upload my ID?

    • You do, this is part of our KYC (Know your customer) requirements. Apologies for the hassle, as I know you'll likely only be wanting to access the promotional offers (As this is perfectly fine) this is pretty much the reason we introduced this feature, was so people can take advantage of it. But for AML/CFT compliance to access our app you do need to go through verification, however it's only a one-time process

      • +2

Thanks i'll pass, not worth it to get some discount.

        • That's perfectly fine, this post was simply just for awareness and so people who might find the range of discounts and offers useful. If we can help save a handful of Kiwi's some money while they're shopping, at no cost to them. Then it was worth our companies time, effort and money to include these offers (Yes, we've paid thousands to 1Team/CSC Buying Group) for the rights to integrate these into our app, which we're essentially giving access to anyone for free. No obligation, but appreciate you at least taking a look at us. Cheers

Is it possible to get a list of what the offers are so we cheapies can decide whether it’ll be worthwhile going through the process?

    • +2

Screen shots are a bit fuzzy but gives you an idea.

Thanks for this, it's really great to see.
        Tempted for the jb hifi.
Cost +10% + GST could be pretty good, depending on what their normal mark is. I have no clue.

      • Thanks bigcheese. That gives a good overview, I should have done that from the beginning to save you the hassle. We're hoping if this feature gets good feedback and demand, we will look at expanding the range of discounts. The Tier level we are on at the moment, excludes some large retailers like Noel Leeming as an example. But if enough people sign up, it might be worth our company to push for the upgrade

  • Signed up. Thanks

Since this is Cheapies… What does the referrer/referee get?

    • Um, not sure about Cheapies sorry. But we (Pay It Now) have a referral system in place. For each person you refer to sign up, you get $1 worth of PIN Rewards to spend at one of our partner stores. You can find your referral code in the settings menu of the app. The referral system is entirely optional

    • And welcome aboard, hope you enjoy the discounts

Thanks to bigcheese, here's a screenshot of the available offers

Click on an offer to expand the redemption details and/or barcode or promo code. Enjoy!

    • Please check the comments/replies. Most of your concerns have probably already been mentioned or answered. It's a cool feature, and we just feel more people should know about it and be able to access an awesome range of discounts. There's no expiry dates, the offers will permanently be available through our SHOP menu within the app (Until or if we decide to discontinue offering this feature) but it's there if anyone wants to take advantage of it. Thanks all
  • Be good to have Bunnings on this as well. Cheers

  • Is the tower discount applicable to TradeMe insurance?
