Privacy mostly. Some countries will block access from certain other countries. Also provides (to a point) privacy from services (commercial/govt/unsavoury) who may want to view your traffic, preferences etc. All sorts of arguably legitimate and illegitimate reasons for doing so.

Realistically, it is only one part of an overall security approach. So on its own, only provides a degree of protection.

Also gets around Geoblocking of certain online audio/video streaming sites etc. Sometimes because of licensing deals with agents in different countries. eg. NZ folk may be locked out from seeing the latest episode of a TV program so Sky etc can sell it as a premium service.

Many websites deliver content, prices etc based on country of origin of your IP address. Even NZ tourist websites may sometimes offer discounted prices on rail etc to folk from other countries.

A few of the reasons for you. Plenty of info online.

  • Good find, sadly missed out due to sleep in

  • Processed through their site twice earlier on, when plenty still available. Seemed to acknowledge a completed enrolment, but still no email received. Don't know if it worked or not?

  • Does anyone have a spare key? Cant believe I missed this:(
