Do you think the fuel price will keep going up again?

My automation shows Z Wairoa is $2.559 on Gaspy today and I've spoofed location and confirmed on Z - 2.0 and it's correct. It's actually been that price for a few days already and it dropped since last week.

    • Okay thats a good sharetank price.

        For 95, it's $2.749 Wairoa.

Curious to know what automation you carry out? Manual process doesn’t take too long, but always keen to try new methods

      • Manual process is a waste of time, as you'd have to be 100% sure the Z you're looking at is the cheapest out of the entire country.

In Gaspy, I first set a 100c discount on Z. This guarantees that everything I look at will be Z, as they'll be the cheapest.

I then manually added all the 91 and 95 for all the Z petrol stations to my favourites. This is required because Gaspy has a 99KM range limit on nearby petrol stations. By adding all the Z stations to favourites (separated by 91 and 95), you get to see the entire list. If you have 200 Z stations, you'll see all of them in favourites, sorted by cheapest to most expensive.

The above is a one-time setup. Took about 30 mins to do by hand.

After that, I use MacroDroid to do UI automation. It'll launch Gaspy at specific times of the day, click the elements, scan the screen and fetch specific text. It'll let me know what the cheapest 91 and 95 is, the location and whether there's any price confirmation (to avoid fake reports). It'll then send a SMS to a specific group of people who are subscribed to this. If the message has been sent out, it won't send out another one on the same day, UNLESS there is a cheaper price.

I can also specify a price target (separate for 91/95). If it falls below e.g. $2.6 for 91, then it'll send out the alert. There are a few other features as well but that's the gist of it.

The nice thing is that I don't have to hack into the Gaspy API or backend to do this. This trick will always work and is easily updatable. I won't be sharing it sorry, don't want this to get abused and then Z end up changing their app that breaks spoofing. At the moment, Z v2.0 location spoofing still works great for me and I want to keep that going.

        • Wow very in-depth explanation! Thanks for that. I also want to try something like this if I have time. Thanks for the inspiration

          • @NeverLucky: NP.

You can also do this with Tasker as well, but I recommend MacroDroid because the UI is just so much better and nicer to work with. You can do a lot with it, from doing REST API calls, to webhooks and a bunch of different things. It can also work with Tasker plugins too. You can do pretty much everything, especially if you have a rooted phone. It can also work with elevated ADB as well if you don't want to root your phone, albeit the functionality may not be complete and you'd probably have to use something like Shizuku as well. If all of this sounds advanced, it's because it is. But there are plenty of guides out there to help you get started.

    • Do you happen to Spoof on Andriod or iOS?

If iOS do you mind sharing your method? :)

      • I spoof on Android, specifically on my phone. There are many ways to do this, but Android has changed quite a bit recently due to PlayIntegrity replacing the deprecated SafetyNet. I think Z relies on PlayIntegrity check now. You can also use Android emulator to do it. There are ways to do it on iOS as well.

I've shared a few methods in the past already. Search the comments and search online. Some may be outdated but I cbf writing a whole thing on this, there's already plenty of resources out there.

    • Does Z has a regular 10c off?

      • Not sure I understand the question….

10 cents off relative to what? Relative to $2.90? Relative to $2.8? Relative to their competitor's prices? Question isn't clear.

All I'm saying in my original post above is that Z at Wairoa is $2.559 for 91 and $2.749 for 95. They are the cheapest 91 and 95 prices out of all of the Z petrol stations in the country. This is based on the cheapest reported prices in Gaspy.

Whether or not Z is cheaper than Gull or NPD etc, and whether it's xyz cents off or not is not for me to answer. If you live in Auckland, generally speaking it's be hard for you to find a petrol station that's around $2.559 for today. I use Z because it's near my house and I can pre-buy it at good prices, especially when there's a pricing error like $1.91 a while ago. Plus I dislike the petrol from Gull (which is generally the next cheapest option).

    • Yup I topped up our Sharetank a few days ago at $2.549. A new Gull station has just opened up in Wairoa and the extra competition is dropping the prices there.

  • Im in chch. Are there any good deals for prebuy fuel?
