    AE is notorious for fake sales - many items actually increase in price. Recently they have been starting to play hardball more and more over refunds for products not as described.

      i generally do my browsing before the sale so i can make sure they arent pulling a quick one. also using choice shipping helps to remove the risk of being overcharged for that part

    Yep, they upped the shipping price (Aliexpress sets the shipping price for the sellers usually) but kept the actual item price the same. Very snek.

  • I recommend people to check Temu for the same product as well, as you might find it cheaper there. Other reasons are:

    • Free shipping (used to be minimum order of $15 but now it's $35, meh but it's something)

    • Price Adjustment - any order you placed within 30 days are eligible for price adjustments. If the price of the item(s) dropped, you can get a refund on the difference. I find that prices change frequently and I've been getting a lot of money back. The price adjustment link is a pain to get to and Temu's My Orders page sucks and is terrible to look at. I wrote a userscript that makes it easier for you to click on and it'll only show valid orders. You can find the script here - https://www.cheapies.nz/node/44085

    • Hassle free refunds. Some refunds go through instantly and you get the credits into your account or back to your card straight away. It'll probably be abused by a lot of people who claim there's something wrong with the product, as they could fake the photos or whatever. But honestly, it's much better than Aliexpress. I'm "VIP" member on Aliexpress at the highest level you can get, spend over thousands on there, and their customer service suck a lot and sometimes refund process is a pain.

      You can remove the minimum spend. Not sure if it completely removes it or lowers it but I recently made a purchase for $21. It said minimum purchase $35 but I didn't want to buy more stuff so had a Google and went through some steps to remove it. Can't remember exactly the steps though.

        Holy crap, that's a great tip. I just tested it and it worked.

        Chat with a Temu chatbot and just type this "remove minimum purchase amount". Then click the button it generates and done. Takes like a second!

        You should post this as a deal post for temu imo

    I try to stick with Aliexpress choice stuff for the free shipping on orders over $10 USD.

    It can be quite a chore to get the maximum discount.
    * Use Kiwiwallet cashback.
    * Use Wise and paying in USD to save exchange fees.
    * Add the item to your cart. Then navigate to the coins "Discount finder" and check the discount when you "Buy now". (The coins discount is greater if you navigate to a item from the coins page 2x+)
    * Check for store coupons
    * Check for Aliexpress coupons

    • Never really had luck with Kiwiwallet. Bought several things, including a $1500 Dyson and never got paid a cent. Cashrewards on the other hand has been pretty good though.

      • They are slow but I've always had purchases tracked and paid, maybe an adblocker is stopping it?

        • I have my adblocker set to automatically disabled (not turned off, literally have the extension disabled) when I browse to KiwiWallet. Checked my browser settings and that it doesn't have any of the privacy/security settings enabled either. Tried a fresh new browser install, nothing gets tracked. Tried on my phone without any adblock or private dns etc enabled, same thing.

          Other sites use the same process, it's literally just a referral/affiliates link in the URL. I don't have issues on other sites and don't even need to disable ublock etc.

    • i miss the good old days of the aliexpress red coupons….

      Some extra tips:

      • Since about February, can search through "pick 3 items" on the Android app.

      Still can't on a desktop AFAICT though. It's possible it still sometimes refuses to show stuff, but probably there's less need to try and convince it to show you stuff by visiting what you want in the main store.

      • You can search for coins deals via the app coins page itself or in the discount finder in the app.

      (Discount finder doesn't show on the desktop so I assume we're talking about the app.) It's likely stil useful to add stuff to cart and check since it might not always show in search. Note the discount finder has both "cart" and "history", you probably normally want cart when not searching but perhaps sometimes history is useful.

      • Unfortunately still no way to search SuperDeals AFAICT.

      Do note that even if you find the SuperDeal outside the SuperDeal page and it says it's a SuperDeal, it can be worse than when you visit it from the SuperDeal page. The same if you share a link. Like the pick 3 items used to be, you just have to visit it and maybe add it to your cart and hope it shows up in the SuperDeals page for you. Proper Superdeals are buy now and can use AliExpress coupons but not store ones, coins etc; and you obviously can't combine so you may end up better or worse. There might be other sellers or even other listings from the same seller for cheaper so as always with AE take care.

      • I suggest you follow stores you're likely to buy from since some coupons are follower exclusive.

      Stores also can spam you with coupons for items in your cart during the sale. I'm not sure if I've ever used these or if any of them weren't just stuff I could get in the store itself, still seems easier to just follow and not worry.

      • Finally if a seller has buy 2 get 5%, buy 3 get 10%, buy 5, get 15% you do not have to buy the same item.

      You can find any item with this store discount deal. Depending on the seller, these could be quite cheap items e.g. US$2-3. So if you're buying an expensive item, e.g. US$100, and you can find such cheap items, you're better off even getting total junk for $2-3 each for 2 extra items. (People on OzBargain do this a lot with Amazon.) Buying 5 is a more iffy at this level but the more expensive the item, the more likely it makes sense.

      But better is avoid total junk, if you need something else see if the seller has it. Even if it's a little dearer it might end up the better deal. This works best with stores that sell a lot of stuff especially those AliExpress operated stores like Factory Direct Collected Store, Cutesliving.

      Unfortunately AliExpress being AliExpress doesn't seem to allow you to search specifically for stuff with those store discounts. On the app, they let you search, but you search all stores and these discounts are per store, you can't order one item from 2 different stores with the discount and receive it. So best I've found is to look at the store categories etc and see if they have a list. It could be incomplete but it's better than nothing. Also recommend you search on the store for anything you're interested in.

      Although it's sort of obvious I actually I just learnt about it over the past day. I I used to see these offers but since I hardly ever want to buy more than one and when I do they're cheap stuff like USB cables or whatever these offers always seemed pointless until now, whoops. (I don't buy that much expensive stuff from AliExpress anyway, and some of the stuff I have hasn't been at sellers where this would work but there have been some and it's also possible just combining cheaper items from the same store would have worked out better.)

      And thanks, I never knew about the coins thing. I was aware of that page since visited it often for various reasons but most of the high discount items seemed junk because you could get the same from other stores without having to fluff around. But more investigation and I've realised now that's not always the case, some of them with coins are potentially the best deal. But like with all things AliExpress, you do have to watch out. Not all items have better coins discount but some do, and some can have quite high discounts but still be worse or at least the same as other sellers.

      Also since the coin discounts deals generally/always? require you to buy now and don't allow store coupons etc, you can easily end up worse off. (Remember you also have to consider maximising your AliExpress coupon use to be as close as possible to the limit/s what you want to order allows.) I suspect most of the time if the discount finder offers you a 4% coin deal and normal is 2%, you're better off sticking with the 2% if ordering multiple items during a sale. So do remember to check properly which one is cheaper.

      In my case, after finding out about it a few days ago, I was looking at an item with 12% coin discount from Cutesliving which seemed the best deal. (I mean even before the discount they had the best price.) Unfortunately since I thought I only needed 2-3% coins at most, I thought a few hundred was enough and was using them when fooling with their games. So I needed to wait until near the end to try and get enough coins. Then Cutesliving stopped offering the coin discount!

      I waited and hoped it would be back. Found they reduced the price very slightly still not enough to make uu for the loss. And then when I was checking something so tried checking out AliExpress automatically collected a store coupon I missed somewhere that is 5% for that item. At the same time I realised I could buy 2 other cheap items and get another 10% off. Plus there is already a 2% coin discount. So the 12% coin savings did end up worse here. However I think it could easily have been better in different circumstances, especially in a more minor sale.
