Sorry, how did you get those prices? I'm on the EPP store and the price for the A55 is showing $799.

      • +1

Your EPP store might not have the same deal, sounds like yours is similar to the normal retail store that has it for $799 with Charge, case and FE Buds.
If you feel comfortable saying which EPP store, I can edit the post to say not your one.

        • I signed up for the EPP store using a .school.nz address. For some reason it wasn't working last night (probably my fault) but has come good this morning and I have bought one. Thanks for the post!

          • @Stoffel: All good, glad it was someone found it worth it.

      • Samsung unidays $799.

Just triple checking the A55 has esim?

  • I'm upgrading from a Poco F3, mainly for the esim. I've compared specs on gsmarena and would appreciate whether this is a good enough upgrade for a phone I bought 3 years ago. Looking at the specs, the poco F3 fares pretty well with the A55.

I can't really comment if the move to the A55 from the Poco F3 is a "good enough upgrade".

For me I was happy with the shift from my S10e, however it isn't mind blowing better. I only play a couple of mobile games, Pokemon Go and Marvel Snap. Performance seems the same. What I have noticed is battery life is a massive improvement, the UI is pretty similar to what I am used to, it currently is doing what I want, no complaints so far. It is heavier and a lot larger than my previous phone.

My question to you is, do you need e-sim support? If no, does your current Poco F3 meet your needs? if yes, pass on changing phones until one of those 2 questions change.

If you have a specific question about the day to day of the A55, I might be able to answer that.

check this model has esim. i have a feeling nz new ones are dual tray sim, not single sim + esim. at least the a54 was this way (caught me out)
      ignore, confirmation above

  • Still no wireless charging on the Samsung A series phones though ay?

    • +1

      yup no wifi charging.

I was hoping now google put it in the pixel 8A Samsung might follow suit. This and the camera are the main things that pushed me up to the as tier a couple of years ago. I'd seriously consider a pixel A series of they sold them here as my next device now they have wireless charging and good cameras.

Thanks @Fox419 and @Bobtherobber - able to make use of this offer through your advice - appreciated

Was exactly at the price mentioned (A55 $575)

Had almost brought an A34 just recently for a similar price - life saver ^^

You are welcome, hopefully the phone is to your liking.

  • Are you all students or is there some way to get access to the EPP stores?

    • +2

There are Corporate EPP, Student EPP, Goverment EPP, Employee EPP stores. I had no clue I had access to one until I googled it and found out I just needed to link my work email address to my Samsung log in.

I got access to my store via work, people I worked with had no clue we had access either.

Thanks for the heads up @Bobtherobber and @Fox419 for the EPP store and different access. Managed to get an A35 for $467 from the education one using my old but still active uni email.

    • Good Pick Up, the A35 had solid reviews and was my 2nd choice if I didn't go for the A55.
