After my failed attempt to buy a clearance phone at the DSE sale (returning it for a refund tomorrow - it's a dud) I'm considering whether to buy from overseas. I'm in no tearing hurry to get a phone so wondering whether anyone has had any success with phones direct from China. My requirements are running android 4.2 or above, bluetooth 4.1, at least an 8mp camera, 16gb storage, around a 5" screen (although happy to go smaller) if anyone has any recommendations.
Mobile phones - dhgate etc, any good?

There has been some good deals floating around on the net the last couple of weeks.
I scored a Nexus 6 for $US199 from Amazon during the Black Friday specials.
If you had friends or family in Aus, Dick Smiths had the Huawei P8 for $349 that could of grabbed it for you.
Keep an eye on https://www.ozbargain.com.au/cat/mobile and use someone like https://www.cheapies.nz/node/4024 to get it to NZ.
I got a phone from Gearbest that has now become my daily phone, and have no issues with it.
It really comes down to hit and miss rather than retailer specific. As you found out with the DSE phone.
I'm negotiating a deal with Becky from Everbuying currently, $200 USD for the Redmi Note 3 + accessories doesn't seem too bad to me, phone is quite big though.
