Got a family member coming from AU - what's something that can be brought over and easily resold for a profit? Something that isn't easily importable to NZ and sells quick.
TIA

Tried that - AirNZ said that it was 'oversize' and I'd have to pay a surcharge which destroyed all the profit when I sold it to the abattoir on Waiheke.
It was in the top twenty-three mistakes I've made in my life.
I reckon they were just being difficult though. They had no issue with the Moa I took over to Aus the following year.
May I suggest a particularly long trench coat and piggy backing with the kangaroo?
Hmmm… are you envisaging the kangaroo on top or underneath?
A house (preferably intact)?
Tried that too - apparently its illegal to import fully assembled houses into NZ (something to do with building regs - pah!) I had to disassemble the whole thing at the check-in counter in Brisbane. Took ages, and you should have seen the queue building up behind me. Some of the other passengers actually glared at me!
That one was in the top forty-seven biggest mistakes of my life.
Boomerang's!! There's definitely a market in New Zealand for them.
Not a good idea, bring it all the way over to NZ just for it to end up returning where it came from.
That's probably the reason why there's such a demand for them and why I haven't been able to find any.
tax free apple product?
Hard to beat student pricing here.
I have a similar issue with 2k aud and 1.6k usd on amazon.com/com.au as giftcards, trying to get the best value out of them for resale locally.
How do you end up with so much GC?
A bunch of gambling competition wins where the prizes were paid in amazon gift cards of your choice(presumably because paying cash requires kyc style info etc so they stick with gift cards).
Incredible. Congrats 👏🎉
I'm not sure how much demand there is for them now. My local countdown sells them for $1 a bottle
I only ordered the rare flavours, cost me $12 each, sold them on marketplace for $25 each in the last few weeks.
Are they coming before May 21st? If yes, I’ll take 3x 500mL thankyou hand sanitisers for a small profit!
501 deportees oops sorry levi's?
This might be a bit controversial, but you can get coke on the street over there for next to nothing compared to the prices in NZ, bring some over and as long as you can get it through border security then it's quick easy money. I know some people prefer pepsi but it is what it is.

I think you might be in breach of site rules creating such a controversial suggestion.
Vanilla Pepsi Max is the only way to go!
You had me in the first half, ngl
I have previously done 4 pack airtags from costco or ebay. You can claim tax back without issue from TRS.
Quick tip: buy 3 packs of 4 to meet TRS requirements.
Starbuy in aus has great deals on watches if you would like to look into it. Make sure total duty free item is not exceeding custom requirements.
Yes the TRS gets you 10% off, so there is a little margin there alone, stuff like high end phones, ipads and stuff can potentially work - ie bigger value items small items. Need to carefully compare the prices in both countries thou, as well as any specials etc.
You need to be able to carry them with you thou, which is a limiting factor. Also just a note, has to be over $300 and all the amount needs to be from the same business, if the total is over 1k AUD you need to have a receipt and it needs to have your name on it, usually that's not to difficult, but you have to remember to get someone like JB Hifi to add it.
Starbuy is my go to when going to aus! Pricing is already much cheaper than NZ, then paired with TRS even better. You can easily buy a watch to wear for a few months and then still sell for profit.
It's all fine and dandy until you get picked up for undeclared new goods over $700 by customs. I remember an ep of border patrol where a dude got flagged for multiple trips to Vietnam and bringing back high end luxury watches.
That's also true, very rare, but it does happen. I had a box of tshirts I was carrying (printed with a company logo) and got picked up coming in for this, in the end it didnt qualify and it was only really because they saw the big box - but I guess it does happen. I would say if you had a couple of ipads in your bag, exceedingly low chance of you just being randomly picked.
keep an eye on ozbargain - combine a good deal with a tax rebate
Australian SIM connections, used to be a good earner.
Jousting sticks
Decided to go with the Pixel Watch 2, should sell for around $400 here..at least I'm hoping
Electronics (Phones, smartwatches, consoles) are pretty hard to move in NZ unless it's heavily discounted from rrp. Good luck though
A whole (preferably live) kangaroo?
