3D Printer Filament

Thanks to @Wakrak I'm now the owner of a 3d printer. I've been struggling to find somewhere that sells decent quality filament at a decent price without massive international shipping.

Curious if there are any experienced 3d printing cheapies with some advice.

    Several places in NZ -
    - Jaycar
    - 3D Max - https://3dmax.co.nz/filament-resins
    - Marvle3D - https://marvle3d.co.nz/3-filament
    - TradeMe

    • Marvle3D seems to have pretty good prices, have you had any experiences with it for quality?

      • Yes have purchased lots from them before and their own brand which is pretty good!

        • Have you used any of the elegoo?

@chep: Have used the Marvle3D, eSun and Creality.

      • The Marvle3D owner (Victor/Chengzhou) isn't a trustworthy fellow. Shop with caution there.

    • Wondershop.nz have their own brand and is cheap. I've used it plenty of time and been really happy with it
    • PbTech also sell Ender filament and is really nice
    • Bits4bots sells esun which is fantastic
    • 3dMax is another place I have tried and been happy with

Marvel3d have a good selection, but as long as you don't need any help or issues, you will be fine. Check their Google reviews for a hint of what they have had. I haven't added my experiences, to that list though.

Not an answer to your question OP but a good place to talk to other 3D printing folk in NZ

  • I'm assuming you bought a Ender 3 V3 SE? I got one during the last sale back in February. Everything I have bought from wondershop.co.nz has worked great, they are cheap and delivery is super fast. Twice I have ordered after lunch and got it overnight.

      Might be the Ender-3 Pro

  • Tend to get all mine off Amazon, haven't purchased any for a while so prices may well have gone up, but don't tend to pay more than $30 a spool. Brands such as eSun, VOXELAB, Overture, if I want something obscure I often get random brands, never really had any issues. Most has been VOXELAB which has printed fine on my ender 3 v2. Filament is often put on special, so if you hang out for that you can save a bit, free shipping too (in most cases with spend met)

    • Had a quick look and there is at least some eSUN matte PLA for ~$30/spool with a few colours. I'm sure there will be more specials too.

Worth comparing filament strength properties too as some are stronger than others within the same brand. Most of my prints don't need to be strong so I don't look too deep. PLA+ is pretty good though.

  • I buy off amazon now sometimes its cheaper.
Hard to find cheap Polymaker in nz.
Also hard to find prusament in nz :/

  • eSun is good a few places sell it
Also look at aussie retailers as the shipping is usually quite reasonable.

I've been using e-sun pla+ for a while now with good results. 3dprintingservices has been the cheapest seller i've found so far.

  • The creality stuff seems well priced on pb tech at the moment. Some colours are selling for $27 a spool.

Just ordered an Ender v3 Se at $299 and some white and black as starter reels as I've no idea what I'm doing with the thing. Figured screwing up with cheap monochrome filament was the best way to start this new hobby.
