Is there a way to take advantage of this if I'm already with 2degrees? Thank you.

I think you can switch to Prepay then upgrade again, Dont know if this still works but some have reported this as a "loophole"

Thank you. Has someone tried this?

    • From my ex-employee memory, it wouldn't work for an existing customer and during the promotion period you can't get any advantage from switching to prepay. That need to be a new number, or you need to change to prepay before the promotion period.

      • Oh ok.. Thank you for replying.

      • Yeah the exploit involved a dummy number then doing a number swap later.
I think NL got a stern warning years ago for doing it.

If Kogan isn't enough data isn't the farm source plan better? Equivalent to the $75 endless plan but $34.5 which is better than 50% off plus you get a $100 joining bonus on top. No lock-in, no need to switch after 9 months, etc. https://www.2degrees.nz/business/farmsource

Or One NZ which has a similar offer. https://one.nz/farmsource/

    • Yeah i wish Farm source card is not accessible for everyone.

      • Farm source is available to any business, including sole traders just starting (or even individuals who intend to start a business as a sole trader).

I know but don't want to open another Credit account.

"as Kogan does not offer enough data."

I don't really get this, I switched to the Kogan Large plan at the start of this year via Cheapies and get 16GB of data per month (albeit I only really use like 0.5GB).

I clicked the link and this goes up to the same 16GB (but for $60/m which would be $30/m).

From memory I think I paid like $13/m vs the $17/m I was paying with Skinny for 1.5GB.

As an aside, what do people use their data for that sucks up so much these days? I struggle to use data because basically everywhere I go has WIFI which just connects. Even streaming music from my server at home whilst in the car uses very little.

Are you using it as a replacement for a fixed connection at home maybe?

You won't stay in your home or workplace forever.

If you ever travel to somewhere like going to a cafe for lunch, there is usually no WiFi, or a free WiFi that requires phone / email authetication which can be painful to connect.

So I just use mobile data all the time for the ease. If I watch videos (which are seen in almost every social apps like Facebook, Instagram, etc.) during my lunch break, it can consume 0.3 to 0.5GB data per day or even more.

Not to mention Free WiFi is a massive security risk and usually slow

    • Have a look up the top of the plan list, you can switch it to endless data, and these plans are also 50% off

    • Some people have no concept of how much data they use so either knock it back not realising, pay for far more than they need or the worst is not limiting the phone to certain tasks when on wifi only. Things like photo backups, automatic sync in Netflix and YouTube will suck down data if allowed to.

I use little data as I spend most of my time in wifi coverage and have set my phone up properly understanding just how much things use.

Also, some people have lives that they aren't constantly at home or in an office with free wifi on tap and rely on the data plan.

Can I suggest an edit to this post?

Noel lemmings has same half price offer but you get a gift card for signing up. But you have to be a new customer I'm already on 2 degrees

    • Thanks for that ill add it now. I'm associated with another company but that is a good deal.
Bearing in mind you need to stay on the plan for 12 months

    https://www.noelleeming.co.nz/2degrees

Has gift voucher offer here up to 400 just for signing up

    • $480 for the 9 months minimum so overall only $80 out of pocket of you need the $400 in Noel Leeming for something else.

Just a heads up, I went to Noel Leeming to sign up for this. It took over 3 hours for them to process the paper work.

They will rudely stare you up and down and tell you they don't think you can afford the mobile plan. Afterwards, they ask for your passport info, driver's license info, visa expiry (if relevant), credit score, what you will use the voucher for, current address, past address, and phone number.

Then, you must wait 1-3 working days for them to email you if you get accepted.

FINALLY, you drive back to the store to pick up your SIM and gift card.

        Which store?

        • I tried St Lukes & my friend tried New Lynn. Same experience at both. Slightly longer at New Lynn though

      • +1

Weird it took that long and how they were trying to talk you out of a sale.
Possibly negative margin with this promo?

The credit check if they are doing it thru Siebel is instant so not sure why it would take "1-3 Working days"

Would be interested to know what store it was.

        • St Lukes & New Lynn. Still waiting for their confirmation email ;(

Just went in and got this deal today, with no issues. The process does take while ( 1 hour).
Got credit check completed in store and walked out with my new SIM card and gift card.

My experience was very positive in Lower Hutt store.

        • That's so great! Wish I was living there…

        • Gonna give tory st a try now I did check JB is not doing it they are offering a $600 gift card but no half price

*In and out in 45mins gift card and Sim Card in hand.

It took me about 20 mins in-store at Wairau Park, Auckland; easy process - they just needed my driver's licence for ID and credit check. The only thing I wasn't aware of was the gift card expires in 2 months :(

    • Seems like a great deal, thanks for sharing. Do you know if still active? I can't see any reference to a gift card currently on the link provided.

      • expired last Sunday :(

Took me about 10mins and walked out with the $400 gift card in Nelson.
You have to sign up to plan for 12month term.
