  • Great looking phone, but is it missing support for N78 which is needed for 5g in NZ?

    • +2

Nope, got it running 5G on Contact (Vodafone Sim)

  • +1

It's a bit odd that the G84 doesn't have eSIM, but the G54 does.

  • I've been using this range of moto G phones for about 8ish o years (though not this one yet). Overall they great - fast, powerfull and great functionality. I only have two complaints. One is lack of eSim, and the other is the lack of independent volume control for messages/texts/notifications and rings. I want louder notifications and v. quiet ring. I raised a support call with Motorola to ask and they confirmed that this is not possible to do.

    • also looking for an esim phone

  • Ignoring the price difference, how does this compare with the Galaxy A55?

    • A55 is almost double the price, so you get what you pay for
Samsung is also filed with Samsung Apps bloat vs the Almost Stock Android G84

      But chipset performance:
      https://nanoreview.net/en/soc-compare/samsung-exynos-1480-vs…

      • Did you like your A55? Bought one for my dad, I haven't unboxed it. Will give it to him sealed, but I'll need to set it up after that, as he'll have no idea how set up.

        • Idk i just got it the other day and waiting for screen protectors and case coming next week before I use it.

Never had a Samsung phone before so will be a different experience
But coming from a P30 which was way ahead in its time, this is more a side grade for me, camera's a slight downgrade though with no optical zoom :'(.
Would have stayed with the P30 if i could unlock and upgrade the OS 😭, Still beats the pants of most mid range phones

Got the Moto G84 for my mum, as more ram and less bloat as its her phone, internet and everything
(especially with all the apps required these days, less bloat = less me having to answer questions about apps and easier to be tech support 😅)

        • I bought an A55 to replace my S10e and love it.
Very user friendly and the bigger screen and the in built grammarly spelling/grammar correction is my favourite thing ever!

          • @Fox419: Good to know. How much did you pay?
I had an S10e that is still doing fine but upgraded during the 6-coupon stacking Samsung deal last year.

            • +1

@sunshinenz: Yeah but S10e is still doing amazing too.
Solid little thing, I use still use it as a back up phone occassionally.

I bought my A55 from the Samsung EPP at launch for $575.28.
I should have done the big Samsung coupon stacking last year for an S23 but oh well, happy with current set up.

I want to make sure my next phone supports VoLTE, I see 2degrees supports the G32 but no mention of Motorola on Vodafone or Spark's compatibility list. Does anyone have experience of using Motorola devices with VoLTE enabled on any of the Telcos?

    • General Telco's will only list phones they've tested and those will be only the ones available in the country in retail, as that reduces their liability and customer complaints.

I've got this phone with an Contact 5G sim running as my dedicated internet atm (i have set it up fully as waiting for a screen protector to come first)
But up top it is showing 5G & VoLTE

  • Hi, has anyone tried buying one of these?
I just tried buying one and when I got redirected back to their website from Paypal, i got an error message after their website loaded.
Money has been taken but i havent received an email confirm my purchase :/

    • Is it showing up in your account under "My Orders"?

      • I didn't make an account, i checked out as a guest. In hindsight i probably should've ade an account…

        • Ooops, Checked your spam?

          • @Huntakillaz: Yeah i have, nothing.
I just emailed them, hopefully they reply

  • The chipset is old 695 it's would be a good phone I am on g72 it's very good a little underpowered still but I use my phone extensively and use many apps at a time

  • We got one as a cheap upgrade and a few notes

Stuff like adaptive brightness is a pain in the ass and turned off right away in the settings, its crazy the phone wants to turn itself from 75% to 25% brightness in a dim room sometimes. Press and hold power button option in settings menu should be power options by default not digital assistant, can be changed in settings. The gestures for flashlight/camera require alot of force for the motion sensor to pick it up.
