  • Was about to post deal too - pretty decent as express shipping is usually $27. Seems like some prices may have gone up a bit from normal. I got 2 x ski socks for $9 and a 2 pack underwear, total $20 NZD shipped.

Deal ends @ 9am GMT Monday (So around 10pm today here I think?)

Cheap sweets NZ$1 for 250g Liquorice Allsorts etc.

Cheap (Luxury?!) handkerchiefs 4pack for NZ$5

No Fear Origin headphones (on clearance) for NZ$6.50

As indicated by OP, express (5-6 working days!) NZ delivery is added to total ($27.95), then removed as discount before final payment.

    • I looked up Liquorice Allsorts and can't find any but it sounds like a good deal could you send me a link to the product

    • Are there any regulations for buying food from overseas sites? Surprised to see food on there.

      • I did have a quick look on NZ's MPI site re that question, before ordering. Think you are pretty safe so long as

        • (not fresh) sealed manufactured product not containing unprocessed nuts, seeds etc,
        • non commercial quantities,
        • not intended for resale
        • payable import duty & GST < $60 (amounts under are not collected, though there are moves afoot to change this law, to capture all goods above $20?)

Note: The threshold $ value varies with the nature of the goods. Seems to be lowest (as in cost before duty is payable) on clothing and jewellery. It is all a little vague and difficult to establish exactly where the threshold is for what goods. For food, it seems though if you are under about NZ$260, pretty safe.

Online GST jump looms for NZ shoppers, July 20156

        What's My Duty

        Example:
        Confectionery/Chocolate
        Original cost 280.00 NZD
        NZ value 280.00 NZD
        Duty @0.05 rate14.00 NZD
        GST @0.15 rate44.10 NZD
        Sub total 58.10 NZD

        • amounts under $60 not collected
        • allow a margin for daily fluctuations in currency values etc

    Awesome, just spent more money…

  • Hope they don't take ~2 weeks to dispatch this time

    • Deal supposedly includes free express delivery (via DHL) 5-6 working day for international orders. Will be impressed if it happens. But still, something slightly ridiculous about ordering a box of Turkish Delight, door to door from UK to NZ, for $1 !!

      • +2

Yeah I ordered about 4KG of candy etc just to see what happens.

        • You could have ordered 250g of candy to see what happens, but that's not the Cheapies way!

      • I just ordered 2 x $1 candy items to be delivered to a friend as a piss take Christmas present. Will find out sooner or later if they follow through.

        • +1

LOL, I happened to mention the deal to a neighbour, oops. It was followed by a 10min lecture about the global irresponsibility of contributing disproportionately to Global warming and the carbon debt of international transport networks.

Seems I may have the makings of being an international carbon terrorist. Did try to point out that I hadn't actually chartered a separate aircraft, just to carry my one box of Turkish Delight. There were in fact an awful lot of other boxes, and a few people chucked in for ballast.

Perhaps time to upgrade the neighbours, methinks…..

Will keep an eye out for a bargain, can't be much harder than a mail order bride!

  • Just bought all my mates xmas presents. $1 Lollies

  • Thank you. Many sweets ordered, dentist will be busy 2016.

  • I find it hard to believe they will deliver this for 60cents: http://nz.sportsdirect.com/-tango-965276?colcode=96527692

    • You must have got the one intended for me. About 15mins ago I was too busy reading the comments and just caught a glimpse of the treasure thingy before it disappeared.

This is why we don't have Amazon Prime in NZ. This is also the reason why sportsdirect won't be doing any more free shipping promotions.

      • Yeah I suspect it's the reason why The Warehouse put a $49 minimum on their free shipping.

      • Amazon did ship free to NZ for orders over $125 for a while.

        • When did I miss this? Here I am paying $125 shipping on a $125 order like a chum.

        • @Toddy47:

A year or so ago, can't remember exactly.

The British Press are beginning to notice - The Times

    • Hope mine makes it past their customs! ;)

    • I was pleasantly surprised to see the story continued after the 3 line, great effort.

  • Worth noting that the $27 free express delivery is actually the minimum charge. Delivery is a sliding scale based on weight etc. On my order, the actual delivery charge was $173, reduced to zero with the deal. So quite a saving there…..

    • +1

Think it's done on a weight basis - 100kgs of coal shipped to NZ the shipping charge is over $10,000 (http://imgur.com/ioOdsrz).

It let me get all the way to payment page but obviously I didn't try place order.

      http://nz.sportsdirect.com/mega-value-traditional-house-coal…

      • Eeeekk!!!

        • It's okay - Free shipping for another 33 minutes, save $10,000!

      • Would've grabbed it for fun if I still had my disposable income :(

        • I suspect it wouldn't get shipped in the end because of the nature of coal and express shipping using airlines.

        • @asmcar:

Would be fun for a laugh though.

        • @Shaw:

I did consider it. But made 4 orders already of novelty items so have to draw the line somewhere!

        • @asmcar:

Fair call, I've made 3 or 4 too, nothing over $15 though lol

        • @Shaw:

One friend is getting a 40cent 2016 animal calendar for Christmas.

        • @asmcar:

          Nice!

Wife is baking for Christmas this year, so no need to purchase presents, just ingredients!

  • Actually, I think the coal order might be an issue. The What's My Duty site, factors in freight cost when calculating duty. So say $900 freight on a $20 item attracks over $200 of extra NZ duty charges. Not sure what happens if that freight charge is waived by the supplier, if that counts for zero or not?

    • I'm pretty sure it comes down to what you actually pay for the items, not what it costs the supplier. Otherwise it would be super complex when stuff is shipped from an Ebay supplier, for example, with free shipping.

Also how some get away with falsifying the documentation to make the items appear lower value.

Legit deal. Strange how much non sporting crap this store sells though hahaha

    • Massive company.

I was surprised when I read what brands they actually own a few years ago, it's crazy.

      • Damn son. That's crazy!

        • +1

Took me by surprise, can see how they can justify these promotions.

        • @Shaw: Ah, a Zero Hours Contract employer. Don't feel bad about making the most of the deals, then.

Nooo Treasure Hunt, You know I can't eat your Ghost Raffle Tickets, I have enough already. On the other hand, Instant Wins…..

        • @Jay:

Yea, there is a lot of controversy around that, may as well take what you can.

  • deal seems to be going still, think there is a few hours left. Ive made three orders thus far, keep finding BARGAINS!!!

    • Na, all done.

      Order summary
      1 item $24.00
      Barlin delivery $27.98
      Total $51.98

  • Thanks so much for this post….got some good deals, hope they make it this way! Ohhhh just received my confirmation email whilst typing this post so guess it is all legit!

    • Definitely legit, have made a large number of purchases from SD before.

  • I got cancellation emails for all of my orders. Reason it gave was payment error, I did use same card but had already received confirmation emails, also used PayPal for one which I got PayPal for receipt for but was cancelled.

Not sure if it's because they don't want to ship or my card is the issue.

    • Haven't received anything here.

Doubt they'd pick through orders and cancel them, there would have been thousands from Aussie, just through OzBargain.

Will keep an eye out, but might want to contact them if you are worried about it.

      • Nah not too worried as long as I wasn't charged or if I was it's refunded.

The stuff was all impulse buy anyway so not going to reorder.

        • Yea sweet as.

I have had issues making payment with PayPal before, think it was Steam Malaysia, and my card provider blocked the payment, even through PayPal, so if they blocked one, it does make sense they could've blocked them all. Strange though, either way.

    • That's pretty bad, I ordered 3 parcels in the end biggest is 4 x 250g sweets. Paid with prezzie card and have received only confirmation emails. How big were your orders I can understand them cancelling if ordered one can of coke for 60c.

      • A few were legitimate and clothing so $20+. Might be credit card company being weary of a few smaller value transactions in quick succession , going to give them a call this morning.

  • Order cancelled worth 25$. Payment error even though paid through paypal

    • Same as me then. I had paypal and credit card orders cancelled.

  • +1

No cancelled orders yet. Confirmation emails from Sportsdirect and Barlin delivery, but with the following caveate:

This confirmation of receipt of order is subject to stock availability and does not constitute a binding contract. This email does not constitute or represent confirmation of the purchase. This will be issued when your order has been processed by our warehouse team.

  • I'd be annoyed if they cancelled my legit order ($100+ clothing) but not so caring if they cancelled my lolly order.
I feel it would be stupid for them to cancel orders because they can't afford to fulfill them, this is the kind of thing you research before putting up these promotions.

  • Both my paypal payments are pending(until they accept on their end)

  • Pretty sure they cancelled people who were ordering multiple orders of $1 - $10 items. I'd do that too if someone ordered a box of lollies for $1. I spent $192 and my orders been shipped already.

    • Yeah only 1 person commented on ozbargain so far saying they got cancelled but had said prior:

      justhooked 22 hours 13 min ago ¶
Thanks easy/cheap way to send my Christmas presents around Australia one item per order including food items

  • They have removed the $1 250gm boxes of candy and 250gm marshmallows from the site, no word what that means for those of use who ordered them.

  • Two out of three orders now advised processed and on their way. Third one was predominantly candy. Nothing heard on that order yet. (no cancellation either!)

(Candy wasn't the only food product on the site. They had others such as softdrink and concentrated cordials etc.)

  • got an email and my 2 boxes of turkish delight are out of stock, i assume the rest of my order is coming, and i hope im getting a refund for the 2 boxes.

    damn, i like turkish delight

    • Might be on backorder? Received this response re my missing order (mostly candy!) Good luck with your order!!

      Thank you for your query.
Your order SDNZ400000xxxxxxxx is currently being picked, however we are currently experiencing delays due the volume of orders currently being processed through the warehouse at this present time. Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience this has caused but please rest assured that we are making every effort to process all orders as quickly as possible.

      • Yes, success. All orders fulfilled and shipped. Quite a parcel of Christmas treats on the way. Next thing is to see how long it actually takes. Not holding my breath for the cited 6 days, but just happy all goods are on their way.

  • Wow, well impressed. First of my three parcels arrived on the doorstep today. Four days to ship from UK to NZ. Taken longer than that to get snail mail from one side of the city to the other. Have to say though, contents were pretty banged up. No harm done but wouldn't want to have anything fragile in the parcel. Delivered in basically a plastic sack without any padding.

Still, proper impressed at the speed of processing and delivery. English sweets for Christmas !

      Mine just arrived as well.

      $1 Jelly Babies
      $1 Wine Gums
      $5 aluminium drink bottle

Probably wished you'd ordered more now?! Looking forward to trying the Turkish Delight etc. Kinda fun having a Christmas parcel from the old country.

        • Haha yeah, I didn't see the Turkish Delight, would've added it to the order. In saying that, I need to cutback after my Dick Smith splurge : )

@Sam91: Don't hold your breath, got all the New Year sales crap to go yet !!

  • Success! Received my parcel yesterday, was delighted with purchases, all excellent buys and great quality. Wishing I had more time to look and buy on the night I ordered now! Hope they do another sale, thanks for the heads up!
