  • I can vouch, bloody good headphones!

    • Wish their sleeping buds were as good as those. What a waste of money those were, my wife still uses them just to block sound out but they dont even power up.

Do what I did…. Contact Bose and they will send you out the hard cover case for free.

Apparently there was a mixup in the product lines and they had some for the region going out with the soft case rather hard case.

What did you exactly said to get it for free? "I bought these and it came with no case"?

      • +2

I called and followed up with an email (including receipt copy).

Been a long time Bose customer and stated that I wouldn't have purchased these if I had known that these only came with the soft case and the hardcase is better for my solution as they stay in my work bag and I was concerned at damaging them rattling around in my work laptop bag.

About 14 days later a case turned up. The only difference is the sc in the name (Soft Case).

Not really noticeably unless reading every single part of the box.

  • Just tried price match with bose but they said they don't match noel leeming :(
Was hoping to price match and get the $50 off via student beans.

    • Was going to suggest this too

I bought the hard case one a while ago, was $350 from another cheapies deal. Really good upgrade over my old QC 35 ii and has better NC than my wh-1000xm5 and also better NC than the Bose 700. It has the best NC on the market right now and a lot of reviews online mentioned the same.

$300 is a really good price for this.

    • I have qc se too. Happy with the performance and price.

I think wh-1000 supposed to be superior noise cancelling based on reviews.

      • WH-1000XM4, XM5 and WF-1000XM5 are decent in NC but not as good as the Bose QC. Even the "flagship" Bose 700 has weaker NC compared to the QC. Also, the QC45 doesn't have as good NC as the latest QC. They are both really similar but there's actually minor changes to the QC. I did several tests and it's very obvious. And yes, I own multiple pairs of headphones and earphones.

The issue with the XM5 is that it dynamically adjusts the NC instead of being passive and consistent like it was in the XM4 and XM3. Again, these are very noticeable and many issues about this have been posted online.

Look at the actual reviews made by audio professionals, they do a really good comparison of the NC.

        • Is SC the same as QC you reference?
ie are you talking about the SC headphones on offer here in this deal today or something else?

          • +4

@Jaxson: OK so just to clarify, as the stupid brand naming is confusing….

            • Bose QC 35 ii -> this is the older generation with micro USB)

            • Bose 700 -> the flagship Bose that came out years ago that aren't foldable and therefore not that great for travelling. The Sony WH-1000XM5 is the equivalent to this, not foldable.

            • Bose QC 45 -> this is the replacement for the QC 35 ii. Same design, but better NC and uses USB-C, some small improvements here and there.

            • Bose QC -> same design as QC 45, but better NC and some minor improvements here and there. I think perhaps they found some issues or some minor things to improve on and rather than piss off existing customers who bought the QC 45, they just released the QC quietly and hoped that nobody would notice. This one has the best noise cancelling out of all the Bose headsets (the ones I listed) at the moment and is also a lot better than the WH-1000XM5.

            • Bose QC SC -> same as Bose QC, just that it has a soft case instead of a hard case.

The one I got a while ago was the Bose QC for $350. The current deal is for the soft case version and that's $50 cheaper, which is a steal. The only difference is literally the case that you get. For $50, I'm sure you can buy a 3rd party hard case if you really wanted one.

In terms of comfort, Bose has always been pretty comfortable for me. The clamping force isn't that strong and so it doesn't give me a headache or make my ears feel sore after wearing for a while. The WH-1000XM4 was terrible, it had a way stronger clamping force than the WH-1000XM3 (which I loved) and so I hated the XM4. The WH-1000XM5 was a lot better and is probably the most comfortable headphone I've worn, even compared to the Bose. However, they messed with the NC and so it's dynamically changing based on the noise in the background. If you're in a busy environment, it will up the NC to a higher performance but it will adjust it back down when it's not as noisy. Myself and a lot of people hated this, because NC to me is supposed to be controlled by the user. I want full NC in all situations. Bose QC doesn't have this issue.

For the price, the WH-1000XM5 is around $460 on PBTech. The Bose atm has an insanely good price to value ratio. Even when I sold my WH-1000XM4 for $400 and my WH-1000XM3 for $350, they were still more expensive than a brand new Bose right now.

        • How is the comfort of the Bose vs the Sony xm5? I have the xm5 and find they put pressure against the top of my jaw in a way that is really uncomfortable. I think it is because there is a lack of padding on the earcups.

          • @Zero: For me, XM5 is more comfortable, but that's not to say I find my Bose uncomfortable. XM5 is way more comfy than the XM4 though.

They actually added more padding on the XM5 compared to the XM4. But I think perhaps the clamping force is what you're feeling on the jaw area.

Recommend trying out the Bose demo units in a store and decide if you wanna get that instead.

            • @NovaAlpha: Cheers. Yes, it might be the clamping force. I am hoping they loosen up a bit as they are just new. I have ordered some bigger earcups to try out from ali. Otherwise happy with the Sonys and I should probably stop trying to find an excuse to buy the Bose as well!

              • @Zero: What you could do is get a cardboard box and put your headphone around it overnight to make it stretch out a bit. I tried this on my XM4 which has a much higher clamping force and it helped a bit.

You'd probably get better NC as the earcups are held tighter around your ears it seems. I personally find that the NC on the XM5 isn't that much better than the XM4, not only because of the dynamic adjustment, but also there's a bit of leakage. It does feel more comfy than my Bose, but it's just not that good. I'm sensitive to NC effects because I've been using NC headphones for years and on a frequent basis, so I could tell the difference between XM3, XM4 and XM5 pretty clearly. XM3 was better than Bose QC 35ii in NC (and in general), but the new Bose QC / QC SC are just really well rounded and edges out the Sony by quite a bit.

Either way, you can't go wrong with either of them, but if you're someone who prefers packing smaller things in your bag, then the Bose might be better. I literally couldn't deal with the XM5 case in my bag (and I have a 40L bag) and so I just bought the Bose coz why not.

  • These don't support LDAC which is a shame

  • Tempted to get them just to rid Micro USB from my life.
My QC35s are from circa 2017~ and they are going strong apart from the Micro B charging..
Anyone had experiences with the QC Ultras?

    • According to Soundguys they have far better NC than these, but I think they are overpriced for what they are.

    • Yes. I hate micro usb but even worse is having something with miniusb!

      • At least MiniUSB wont break lol

    • I agree. My QC35 are still pretty good considering they are not used much but they are the best except for the charging cable. Don't have $300 to upgrade to this though.

    • I tried the Ultras, not that much different to the QC to be honest. But the QC is a lot better than the QC 35 ii (which I still own and is for sale if anyone wants to buy it). At $300, it's a really decent and cheap upgrade imo.

Is this QC w hard case but in green for $349? anyone know if the case is green also?

    • QC SC is soft-case regardless of colour. QC is hard-case regardless of colour. The cases are all black colour for both soft and hard. It's only the headphone that's in a different colour.

The green coloured QC is selling for $349 on Noel Leeming (the link you found) and that's what I bought a while ago. Not sure why that's cheaper than the other colours, but obviously it's NOT the only QC with hard case in that specific colour.

I would have liked the case to be colour matching. My limited edition Midnight Blue Bose QC 35 ii has a blue hard case and blue headphone. The case itself says limited edition on it as well. The case (and the headphone) is pretty much the same design for the QC series, you can barely tell the difference just looking at them.

    • +1

I bought the green one, the case is black.

  • Momentum 4 was 359 last week.
