20% off LEGO (Excludes Marketplace) @ The Warehouse

Not often Lego is on sale, especially 20% off. Looks like everything, except Lego from their marketplace

  • Might be an error/typo on their part but it looks to be 25% off even though they mention 20%. Some examples below:

LEGO Harry Potter Flying Ford Anglia
    $20
    Save $5

    LEGO Star Wars R2 D2
    $158.40
    Save $39.60

LEGO Ninjago Wolf Mask Shadow Dojo
    $135.20
    Save $33.80

    • 33.8/(135.2+33.8)=20%, 5/(20+5)=20%

      • Man I might not be mathing correctly but 10% off $20 is $2, 20% is $4, and 25% off is $5?

        • +1

Yes but you’re not getting 25% off $20 to save $5.
You’re getting 20% off $25 (using the first example).
That makes the price you pay $20 - saving $5.

        • $20 is the reduced price, $25 is the original price. $5 is 20% of $25

    • Their maths is correct as per @sunshinenz workings.

The other way to look at it is if something is $20 on sale (saving $5) then the original price is $25.

    • The savings is 25% of the reduced price, but only 20% of the original price.

Cheapies out here delivering better education than the public school system. This is why you need to learn percentages, kids 😁

  • Some of the sets seem to be more than 20% off where they don't list the original price, when comparing to the lego website. eg this set https://www.thewarehouse.co.nz/p/lego-architecture-notre-dam… Is normally $379 elsewhere but $273 at TWH

    • TWH and Kmart are usually the cheapest retail stores for LEGO ignoring discounts. So to get 20% off at TWH is a great deal. I got the Astronaut which works out to be 40% off LEGO.com pricing. Not bad.

      • Yep, picked up the latest technics F1 car for just shy of $230. It normally sits around the $300 mark with it on sale at $275. $230 was a bargain!

    • +2

If you want to know the original price at The Warehouse before the 20% discount then just divide the sale price by 0.8

For example, the Lego Architecture set you linked is on sale for $273.60
Prior to the 20% discount it is $342 (273.60 / 0.8 = $342) so yes still cheaper than some other retailers.

  • Thanks OP. I always buy Lego from the Warehouse when they have a 20% off. They have the lowest prices if we ignore the Mightyape thing which requires a shipping fee.
