Flight Centre Rewards Programme Changes

FC Mastercard is the latest to make changes to their rewards system - looks like TSB is now the best earning for everyday spend

"As part of our ongoing efforts to provide the highest level of service, we have reviewed and adjusted the Flight Centre Rewards programme. In addition to the new spend-to-reward ratio, there is now an international transaction earn rate tier to boost your ability of earning rewards when travelling overseas and on purchases from international websites."

  • TSB is also changing to $1 every $100 spend with $90 annual fee.

If we dont consider the annual fee, SBS is probably best with $1 every $150 no annual fee, or Dosh (not credit card) for 1% cashback.

  • I think the previous govt changes in terms of CC surcharges has really disrupted the market - most small retailers now tack on a surcharge for CC making it unviable, and most of the card issuers have realised it's becoming quite unprofitable to offer the perks they previously did.

I'm surprised at ASB actually - for $80, their Platinum card offers a 1% cashback rate, it's definitely market-leading now, I know there was pushback last year when they tried to change it, but given how quickly the landscape has moved, I think they may have another go at reducing the earn rate.

    • Personally, I think Dosh has been the clear market leader since it launched. Apart from ultra-high spend Amex platinum cards, nothing else is really close to consideration for me.

      • I agree - Dosh must be very happy, they have done well

        • I just wish they had a digital only version of the card, I don't need yet another plastic card in my wallet

          • @kfr23: I think they have a digital one coming in Mid 2024 based on their support centre. Agree - I have a semi useless AMEX for the big stores, and a debit EFTPOS card for everything else with a surcharge. A virtual dosh would fill the middle well.

  • It's a case of you better be careful of what you wish for.

Everyone complaining about credit card fees being too high so they regulate and as a result we have surcharges and watered down rewards schemes.

Not saying its bad (in general its a good thing especially for the merchant) but you cant have your cake and eat it.
