  • Depends on your needs. Do you care about wattage/size/inverter/flatbed or anything like that?

I have the 34L microwave from Kmart and it's good. Same wattage and size as the RH you linked.

    What's your current/old microwave?

  • Totally reccomend educating yourself on inverter microwaves. They work so much better than old school types and if you find a great deal they aren't necessarily more expensive.
Bought one not knowing what inverter meant and totally sold on them now they heat or defrost far more evenly

    • thank you. I've jut been reading about them. Thank you

  • Here's the explanation.
A traditional microwave set on 30% power will run on full wattage for 3 seconds and turn off for 7 seconds. For example.
An inverter will actually run at 30% power for the same ten seconds. So the heat is far more evenly distrobuted.

  • I think I'll get an inverter one like this https://www.noelleeming.co.nz/p/lg-42l-neochef-smart-inverte… instead. Thanks everyone

    • Mine is an lg smart inverter the same type! Totally reccomend, they look nice too

    • +2

I have this model and find it's a POS. Seems like everyone else on Cheapies that has one likes them though!
      Things I hate about it:
-first time you use it it's OK, second time (like second plate reheat) takes twice as long. EVERYTIME.
-cant see the front panel buttons because they'll so dark if you need to add time while it's cooking (if your kitchen is bright might be OK)
-still cold in the middle - always
-touch slider to add/increase time is unreliable eg. wet hands

I just wish it would die so I can buy a different one. Hate it.

      • I'll join you in the hate it club - thought it was just me too!
I had one maybe a year ago and I definitely found that it didn't heat all the way through, so cold in the middle. Ironically, that was the very reason I got the inverter model as I thought it would heat evenly.
I can't recall the other reasons I didn't like it and based on everyone elses comments maybe I just got a dud one but I got rid of it as to me it was the worst microwave I have ever owned.
Don't even know what I have now but it is the old turntable style and does what I need it to.

      • thank you for this. I'll reconsider

      • I've been reading lots of mixed reviews about it as well.

      • Are you blasting on full? Try lowering the power and run it for a bit longer, I usually go for 60-70%. a backlight would've been handy for the control panel, but I do personally love the touch slider, if I have wet hands I just use my knuckles.

        • Yer - works well at 70% but it's a trade off of whether I'll top myself in the 25mins it takes at 70% to reheat a plate. Pretty sure the kinetic energy of me smashing it with a hammer would get it warmer faster and more satisfying. Still dont understand why the second plate takes twice as long on the same settings to get the same result.

    • I bought lg 42 neo chef 4 month ago, it stop rotating in just 3 month and it is sent for repair

      • Had mine for 3 years now, no complaints

      • got my replacement with new one, as the existing repair take time

  • If you check the priceme website for your 42l lg. Then scroll down and click " show more "
It will give you the price trend. It has been down as low as $150 in recent months. I would guess from briscoes.
Depends how soon you need a microwave etc. Anyway its handy information when buying an appliance

    • FYI, I doubt the 42l lg has been ever been $150 - I would say that must have been an error.
The best price I have seen is $239 in recent months.
      It's currently $290 at JB Hi-Fi.

      • Had a double check. The priceme price trend shows it's been near $175 4 times over the last year. Sorry I wasn't specific, because the point was to take a look. It will likely (up to the individual to decide) drop in price again

        • Can't see the details in the table view. My assumption is that the store was Appliance Outlet, which sells seconds and refurbs.

          • @Plug: Yes
The price is of refurbished goods

  • They also have new goods that are cheap because of damaged packaging
