This price is fair, can't image who would pay the original price for a 5000mAh power bank.

    • Most of the RRP are ridiculous in most of the stores nowadays.

  • Assume this will only charge iphones at 7.5W as it's an older model and doesn't support QI 2.0

    • where does it state that?

According to description. Again, I am not really sure so just asking.

Compatible with 5W/7.5W/10W or other Qi devices Support PD fast charging

      • Those specs relate to what the battery is capable of on any device that would allow it, so important to keep in mind if you have an iphone and are expecting to reach those speeds.

Anything that's not certified by apple will only charge iphones at 7.5w wirelessly - at least for the older ones but I know there was an update in a recent firmware that enabled up to 20w for iphone12 and newer, but can't remember if it still required apple certified or not.

        • There is nothing like apple certified for wireless charging I think. How does it even figure out what is certified or not wirelessly. Only thing it needs to be is QI enabled charger.

Mfi certification and Qi certification is different.

Of note, all chargers (wired or wireless) do a "handshake" to negotiate the right charging speed. So "how does it figure out" is pretty simply put into that handshake.

            • @guysaturday: Yes. I am aware of handshake. What I meant was there is nothing MFI certified for wireless charging. It's only qi certification. Qi certification is not apple thing, which other user mentioned.

Secondly, this one supports magsafe charging, which according to your link should support 15w wireless charging.

          • @ace310: Magsafe is the apple specific "certification".

How does it even figure out what is certified or not wirelessly.

many methods are possible - they already do it with airpods, airtags and various other devices. I don't know what apple uses specifically, but I also don't know why you would even question this as if it wasn't possible/happening.

This article delves into the intricacies of iPhone wireless charging standards, including Qi, Qi2, and MagSafe, and outlines which series of iPhones are compatible with these innovative technologies.
            2. MagSafe
MagSafe charging is Apple's proprietary wireless charging standard, introduced with the iPhone 12 series. It improves upon the basic Qi standard by incorporating magnets around the wireless charging coil to perfectly align the iPhone with the charger. This precise alignment ensures optimal charging efficiency and allows for a more secure connection between the device and the charger. MagSafe chargers can provide up to 15W of power to compatible iPhone models, significantly reducing charging times. In addition to charging, MagSafe technology supports a range of accessories, including wallets, cases, and stands, offering a versatile ecosystem for iPhone users.

Qi Standard: Starting from iPhone 8 series and onwards, all models support Qi wireless charging, including the entire iPhone X, XR, XS, 11, 12, 13, 14, and 15 series, as well as the iPhone SE (2nd/3rd generation).

i.e. even if your phone could charge at 15w, depending on the model it will most likely charge at 7.5w using Qi

MagSafe Standard: The iPhone 12, 13, 14, and 15 series support MagSafe wireless charging.

i.e. up to 20w for these models, otherwise up to 15w for models that support it, else 7.5w (basically, this one will let your phone charge at what the phones limit is). The above quote states 15w, but with one of the iOS 17.x updates they enabled 20w for many devices from the iphone12+

Qi2 Standard: The latest iPhone 15 family supports the new Qi2 standard.

i.e. 20w if iphone15, otherwise it depends on the model. e.g. The iphone 12/13mini can charge at 15w with magsafe, but with Qi2 it will only charge at 12w

2-in-1 Magnetic Wireless Charging Pad with Qi2
12W for your iPhone 13 Mini and iPhone 12 Mini.

This is literally the point I was making. You have to keep in mind there's all these hoops for iphone wireless charging so you may not get what you're expecting.

      • Qi2 certified products only being sold starting early 2024, any QI charging supported models before that can only charge at a maximum of 7.5W when using wireless charging with iphones. This momax powerbank was released 2 years ago and can't even be found on the QI certification database.
