Booking.com: 12.5% Cashback on Hotels & Accomodation @ ShopBack NZ

90

Just noticed this was boosted to 12.5% from the usual 5% cashback while I was booking a holiday on Booking.com and the shopback extension popped up.
It's higher than the Visa 10% cashback.

Also says "Save 15% or more when you book and stay before 1 October 2024"

Ends 30 September 2024.

  • Hi yall, I made a hotel booking for Queenstown a few weeks ago on booking.com, trip is for late august, do you guys know if the cashback will apply to this bookings or would I have to cancel it and rebook? It's free cancellation so I should be able to do it again. Thank you.

    • Did you book through ShopBack or are you trying to do it retrospectively?

      • Ah, no, I booked directly on booking.com.

        • Then I doubt it. Best to cancel and rebook if you want that cashback I reckon.

    • I dont think it applies unless you book through the Shopback link or extension.
After booking mine using the shopback extension, I pretty much immediately received an email from shopback noting the transaction was successful and the amount of cashback was pending.

  • Booking hotels for my last trip I realised this cashback was basically a scam.

Pro tip -use a VPN set to the destination to where you are planning to travel. Most of the time you will find prices for locals cheaper than for overseas. The kicker is if you then search for the same accommodation using the referral link you find the price goes up. You are basically paying for your own cashback.

So skip all the nonsense and just use a VPN.

    • I have just compared, and they are priced the same therefore looks like cashback is a good call, although don't get the money until 180 days past stay date.

    • which country have you found the vpn thing true?

  • I see the cashback rate is at 5% now, has this been reverted back?

    • Hmm yes it does look like it's back at 5% now, weird :(
I will change this to expired. I thought I saw it until 30 September, but maybe it was for the 15% off before 1 Oct only.

      • Was 5% yesterday now we're up to 10%, so odd lol
