Olive oil used to be $10 per litre but I haven't seen this price for a long long time., Even Pams one is $19 per litre in store. I used to be able to get 3litre olive oil from the warehouse too for less than $30 but not anymore.
Where do you get your Olive oil from? Bulk buy?

If you are in Auckland, Costco has pretty decent price. And Kirkland brand is pretty good.
I use " the good oil " from paknsave $9.95 for 1ltr.
On the same shelf as olive oil but its actually rapeseed oil.
Better for trying than olive oil with a higher smoke temperature and half the fat. Find it just as tasty in a salad dressing too

I think the Bargain Chemist sometimes have olive oil on special, but I don't quite remember the price.
Just curious, why olive oil? If you use extra virgin for flavour on salads and dressings that make sense.
For cooking the oil needs to be colourless and flavourless with low levels of Free Fatty Acids in which case a decent canola or sunflower oil is actually better than olive both from a taste standpoint, fatty acid profile and often the amount of other non-oil material that gets polymerised during cooking.
I used to be a (food) oil chemist and just get the supermarket brand canola or rice bran oil for cooking. I'd pay extra to buy in a dark container if they had them but that's about it.
It's a global thing. Your best bet is using a different oil wherever you can and saving olive oil for finishing and salads.
