Best Grocery Deals at The Warehouse

With the grocery duopoly, I've been trying to support The Warehouse where I can and have discovered there really are some great deals there … hidden amongst alot of deals that just aren't competitive.

The initial ones I found were 2 litre milk (55c cheaper than supermarket housebrands), Freya's bread at $3.50 (up to $4.39 elsewhere), Farmer Brown's Size 7 dozen eggs at $7 and Olivani at $5 versus up to 6.45.

Ignoring specials … what are the best grocery deals you've found at The Warehouse that beat the other supermarkets?

  • We get our flour at The Warehouse, 1.5kg high grade flour for $1.90, $2.39 at PaknSave. They are not the best on stock availability though, so it's a gamble sometimes.

    I just get the eggs.
I would shop more but many warehouses near me are just not convenient.

  • I started with just the milk, then added the eggs and the coffee capsules.

But I hated having to check everything instore so I made a summary list: https://tinyurl.com/4ss8z9wt

I obviously haven't compared everything so I wondered what everyone else had found.

    • Not sure if it has changed in the last few days but I'm only seeing 700g Mainland cheese at the Warehouse for $10, not 1kg.
(hope I'm reading the list right, assume everything under 'CHEAPEST Branded Groceries' is from The Warehouse).

The corned beef is a waaay better quality than the supermarket ones at sim prices. The pasta is also the best cheap pasta around.
Always pick up eggs, rice, coffee beans and milk

Milk, toilet paper (soft touch), jasmine rice, Weet-Bix, coffee beans, and eggs.
However, I've noticed price increases for many of these items, so the benefit has been decreasing

I have stopped grocery shopping at Warehouse since they have increased their milk price to $3.30 and egg up by $1. Makes little sense to go there now. My Chinese supermarket is selling egg cheaper for size 7 30 at $14. Works out to be way cheaper than warehouse at $46cents each. Warehouse at 58cents each. as for milk $1.8 per L as PNS vesus $1.65 per L warehouse. little saving not worth the trip stopping by at the warehouse. Their self raising flour taste bad compared to PNS Pams.Their jasmine rice taste bad as well as it's coming from Vietnam, as oppose to thai jadmine rice.

    • The Warehouse milk is $3.30 for 2 litres. It is a good saving but, I agree knowing what else is cheaper to justify the extra trip.

That’s the purpose of this forum - to find a cluster of products that are cheaper.

      • Most of the Indian grocery stores have 2x2l for $5.50-$6 deals always. So if you have one nearby it's always cheaper.

I'm the same - always bought milk at TWL for $3.00 and picked up other stuff as well, but with the change to $3.30, I don't bother unless I am there anyway, and the other incidental purchases tend to go to PNS for now.

  • Are any of the laundry or health & beauty products cheaper?

    • Yes, but with things like laundry powder, does cheaper always mean better? I quite often see this in peoples trollies. Never tried it myself, but I know someone who swears by it. It's warehouse exclusive. 10kg is a big bag of laundry powder, you only get a 4kg persil for around that price. Maybe it's worth your time researching the reviews. Consumer have probably tested it.

      • I can only speak for the cheap sensitive laundry powder from Mitre 10… pretty rubbish compared to Persil Sensitive I have found!

  • Always disappointed these days with the Warehouse. There may be the odd special in food lines but the choice and quality isn't there. I don't bother going out of my wat to go there anymore. Can't see it surviving much longer. It was great for a while back in the day when it stocked quality stuff like AEG etc. So much of what they sell is just throwaway rubbish. Kmart is so much better in almost every category (wouldn't buy shoes from either though). If we got the Aldi chain here, they would be history.

  • Breakfast foods (Nutrigrain, Weetbix, Rice Puffs), eggs, pasta, chocolate hazelnut spread, flour, the fruit and veges can be good (grapes are cheap but nice), dairy products

  • In my local, I don’t like the fact they have fresh fruit&veg product which is clearly marked keep refrigerated just sitting on a raised pallet on the shop floor. Unsure if it’s the same in other stores.

  • For me, milk, bread and wet wipes and toilet papers are what I normally get from TWH.

For eggs, they are a lot cheaper at Asian supermarkets. There's almost always a Tai Ping or whatever nearby and that's regardless of the suburb I go to.

It would be nice if apps like Grocer, Price Pulse, Price Grabber or Grosave can track additional stores such as the Asian supermarkets, but I guess a lot of them don't even have their own website and I believe they are franchised, so the prices may vary depending on the branch you go to…

  • Weetbix is cheaper at PnS now.
