Air conditioning installers in Auckland

Hi everyone,

We are hoping to install 1-2 air conditioning units in our 80sq meter 3 bedroom home. Any recommendations on installers in Auckland or machines?

  • Try Air Mc Limited, have had good service from them with Haier heat pumps. I'll PM you details.

  • Can't PM you. You need to enable it in your profile. Send me a message and I'll reply with details.

  • Have you checked to see if you qualify for subsidies?

I was rather suprise to discover that some are purely area based - including the not exactly poor edge of my suburb (St Albans CHCH - but if I was selling I'm sure it'd be Merivale on the listing). I'd have qualified anyway, but it was a bit of a "wow, really?" Moment given there are more than a few 1.5+ million dollar places across the street!

    • My parents (Central Auckland) qualified, they chose Varcoe w/ a Mitsubishi unit. Apparently the subsidised heat pump unit Mitsubishi offers is a stripped down model with a gimped remote. Still it was a professional job, no problems.

Give trident a call mate! They got all the right guys and good to deal with.

  • DesignAir - I have used them many times. Good pricing too - I highly recommend the Mitisusbhi electric units, which have a reasonable Wi-Fi app.

  • If you can swing it, I would highly recommend asking about ducted heating for the house.
We went through a similar exercise a few years ago and determined we wanted 3 units in our 90sqm home (master bedroom, living room and study as we work from home) and a ducted unit was only marginally more expensive.
It was so much easier to manage heating and cooling in the whole home, much more comfortable all year round, and easy to maintain the filters ourselves.
    We used these guys:
    Happy Air Heat Pumps Ltd
    0508 427 792

    Installed a Fujitsu unit.

    • The only thing to watch out for with ducted units are that the main outdoor unit needs to be larger to accommodate running multiple units. And with inverter heatpumps there is an efficiency bell curve, meaning large (or very small) units are less efficient that regular sized ones. So ducted systems are often a bit less efficient overall.

Also, long term (like if you plan on being there in 10 years) a ducted system is more expensive to replace if it fails outside warranty as its a full replacement rather than just the faulty room.

  • Midea if you want cheap and good machine i got mine 2kw 650nzd each for split units.
It's app controlled it has sleep curve settings which others don't have it in NZ samsung has introduced there acs recently which also has this feature.

If you want the greatest Daikin with streamer , it has cop of 5.2 something 2kw or similar units, streamer is there plasma discharge air sanitization machine it's also app controlled

  • I usually first class air conditioning to do my heat pump servicing. Efficient and friendly service. The guy is also a qualified electrician that can do the heat pump install without external contracting an eletrociian . So seems better value than others. Worth asking for a quote from them directly.

  • I did ducted for a 3 bedroom 100sqm house. I would recommend looking at that

    • How much did that cost?

      • I did a 4 vent / 7.2kw from memory I think it was $5-6k at the time. I originally had a single heatpump and wanted to do one in a room. Heat transfer units simply don’t work - I’d highly recommend getting quotes and the experts in and explain the benefits. I had an old villa and the difference was night and day.
