Motorola Edge 50 Pro or Oppo Reno 12 Pro

Any recommendations on which one is worth it?

I see huge thing about AI with 12 Pro but unsure.

A little support would be great.

  • Lol anyone?

    • are they both the same price? And how much?

      • $1099 NZD

  • Also check out newly released oneplus Nord 4.

  • If you want vanilla android and poor camera output: Motorola
If you want bloated android and better camera: Oppo

Oppo has larger battery, EIS camera better Corning glass

    Choose your poison :)

  • For Stock Android & Performance: If you prefer a clean, near-stock Android experience with top-tier performance, the Motorola Edge 50 Pro is a strong contender.

For Photography & Design: If photography and a more customized, feature-rich software experience are your priorities, the Oppo Reno 12 Pro might be the better choice.

I am on moto from India , it's great

  • I dont like the oppo software much, notifiactions work a bit weird.

I'd go for the moto, personally. But I also have a google pixel and have been super dupe rhappy

    • Which google pixel recommendation then?

  • Oppo and OnePlus software sucks in my opinion. Unless you use the LuckyTool exposed module (which requires you to root the device), you'll run into a lot of annoying issues and restrictions.

    • Oneplus used to have great software! They merged the oppo and oneplus software and it was dreadful!

My old oneplus 7 pro is still the best phone ive owned

      • Yeah, they used to be good. I got into OnePlus ever since OnePlus One. The hardware is still pretty decent these days, but the software is absolute rubbish, unless you flash custom ROMs on them.

  • I personally wouldn't get neither, but if you were to go for Oppo or OnePlus (both under the same parent company), then the best place to buy them from would be from places like Taobao. They ship to NZ and I've purchased many things from there without issues. Only thing is the waiting time is longer than your typical purchases from e.g. Amazon or Aliexpress. But the prices are significantly cheaper.

Here's an example of Xiaomi Redmi K60 Pro with Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, 120hz refresh and OLED screen, 8GB RAM and 128GB storage, 5000 mah battery with 120W fast charge, at around $340 NZD. That's really cheap for a phone with this specs and especially with that CPU and this would be plenty good enough for most people, including myself:

If you're just looking to get a phone with decent specs at a budget price, i.e flagship killers, then this could be one of them. It really depends on what you want in a phone, you'll have to decide for yourself.

I wrote a guide on how to buy from Taobao, it's somewhere on this forum.

    • how long does it take for shipping?

      • +1

I think it took about 5~6 weeks. I don't quite remember the exact time, haven't bought stuff from Taobao for a while. The shipping fee itself was really cheap though.

If you think about it though, the shipping time isn't really a problem. Usually the prices on Taobao are still cheaper than the price on Aliexpress when it's on sale. I bought a Lenovo Xiaoxin Pad 12.7' tablet for about $350 NZD. I saw it on Aliexpress the other day and it was on sale and it was still more expensive ($380). And if I were to buy the tablet in NZ, it would cost around $1000 or so. I can buy the tablet from Taobao at any time and the price would just be around $350 NZD, sometimes cheaper if there's a sale on Taobao. My point is, waiting for sales on XYZ platform is going to cost you time anyway, so waiting 6 weeks for shipping from Taobao isn't that much different.
