Ninja CREAMi Ice Cream Maker NC300 $286.15 @ PB Tech ($257.54 via Price Match at Briscoes)

80

Hi first post so hopefully I get things right.

I was looking to buy this product the past week end and found that PB Tech was the cheapest with stock at $286.15. Briscoes was the most expensive at $500 regular price but there was a sale which brought it down to $450 and its back up to $500 now.

I went into Briscoes to see if they could price match it and they did!

Here is a screenshot of the e-receipt:

I've got it to make low cal high protein ice cream, which seems to be what a lot of people are getting this for when you look up videos, reddit, etc.
Unfortunately a lot of recipes out there are US centric where they use products such as fairlife milk (ultra filtered milk/protein shakes) and pudding mixes, so I guess like a lot of recipes using kitchen gadgets we need to do a bit more research and experimentation.

    Congrats on the first post.
I think you did better than you should on the price guarantee though.
    Briscoes 10% off should have made it $257.54 ($286.15 - $28.62 = 257.53)

    • Yeah I was surprised that they used their own non discounted base price to calculate the 10%. That might have been an operator error?
It was my first time price matching with them.

      • X140hu4 - was it Lyall-Bay Store?

        • Nope, St Lukes.

    • The image they have of their receipt shows some extra promotion for $50 off.

      • True, but I'd expect this to be in the difference anyway (line "One day") to bring it down to PB Tech's price, then apply the 10% price guarantee.

Have a look into recipes with Xanthan Gum or Guar Gum as replacement for the pudding mixes.

I haven’t tried, but have a test one in the freezer at the moment

I’m confused by the appliance. It seems like you still need to freeze the ingredients separately. Is that right? What’s the point? Or how does it compare with using a blender or a mixer with frozen ingredients?

It's basically a pacojet. You freeze your ice cream mix in the beaker, and then this machine uses a blade to "micro puree" it into an extremely finely-textured dessert. If you've ever had that super creamy gelato that some fancy restaurants serve, this is how they do it.

You can also use it for sauces, mousses, annoying neighbours, or anything else that you want to puree.

  • JBHifi had it on sale for $248 last week … was tempted to get it.

Just a call out that anyone wanting to follow the 'low fat/high protein' recipes - these are not recommended by Ninja- if in doubt, feel free to check with Ninja. Search on youtube "ninja creami stuck" "blade falling off" "metal shavings in icecream" and few other issues with the mixtures being too 'frozen solid' and damaging the machine.

The machine is really built for the recipes or bases that are mentioned in the official Ninja recipes or similar recipes but you can probably semi-safely go semi-low-fat but going just protein and 1% nut milk recipes will either straightaway break the machine or eventually will break it.
