I think we need to be careful when buying from Shein, Temu, Taobao, and Aliexpress, especially when purchasing items for young children.
Agreed. It's just common sense really. I don't trust where the clothes have been, whether it was worn by someone else who was sweaty or has germs or whatever. Some people don't even change their underwear for days. And it could have been on the floor or in boxes where there may be insects or whatever crawling around.
At the very least, do what everyone has been told to do for fifty years or more, and wash your clothes before ever wearing them for exactly this reason.
If there happens to be lead dust (as an example), or anything else on the cloth, any washing detergent (surfactant) will get it off. If the lead is in the dye, then it won't come out very easily, but then the risk is substantially less, since… it won't come out very easily. They uses to say, 'wash once, rinse twice' with new clothes, but I suspect that was before automatic washing machines were ubiquitous.
This has been an issue for as long as (almost) anyone can remember.
