  • Nice find. I paid $34 3 months ago.

  • Noob question, I have my home server, apple tv, tv itself all connected directly to the asus ax router's ports.
What benefit would this bring if adding this to the mix?

    • The only benefit it would bring is extra ports. But if you don't need them, this won't do anything (maybe make it worse in high throughput scenarios which most people don't have)

  • +1

It's $17.48 if you have the proper PBTech promo code added to your account.

    • Is there a promo code somewhere??

  • Was thinking of buying this, then realised I already had 2 routers that my previous internet companies had loaned out to me sitting idle.

    • A router and a switch are very different things.

      • I have the Super WIFI deco units from Vodafone. Can I get one of these and plug the ethernet cable from the deco unit into this to have more ethernet connections with the switch as the deco unit only has 2 connections? (Noob question)

        • Yes

        • I'm probably being overly technical because of my IT background, but no, you can't. That being said I get the confusion, the box that most people call a router (or a modem) should be more correctly called a residential gateway, it's a type of CPE that combines the functions of multiple things, usually including a router, a switch, a modem, a wireless access point, etc. Even when they are combined into a single unit, a router and a switch are still very different things :-)

  • Its back in stock with PB and seems like directly with supplier

    • That's what it said last time too

      • nah when i updated it, it said out of stock last night.

        • No I meant it said it was "In stock at NZ Logistics Centre" last time too

  • I have used a few of these switches now in cheap and cheerful installations, and have had no issues, my understanding is they are a "subsidary" of TPLINK (they have their finger in the pie somewhere at least).
The switches/specs/and models numbers are darn near identical, just at like half the price. not sure what that means, but you get 2 years on plastic, and 5 years on the metal housed products.
Also the icons used in the PoE switch manuals, are the same as the TPLink manuals, which denote their EAP range. haha

So unsure if there is an actual difference, I may have to take the housings apart just to be nosy. or whether they are just trying to gather more market share.
