Vacuum Cleaner Plastic Pipe Replacement

Hi I’m looking for recommendations of where to find a replacement vacuum cleaner plastic wand for my my landlord’s $55 vacuum that I broke (linked below) trying to channel my post break-up blues into cleaning.

https://www.thewarehouse.co.nz/p/living-co-multi-cyclonic-20…

At present I see two options, either replace the entire vacuum and become an unwilling owner of a vacuum cleaner with terrible suction or find just a replacement pipe plastic pipe. Tried checking Temu but pipes cost almost as much as a new vacuum ($30+). Would be grateful for any ideas fellow cheapies!

    1. Wear and tear is considered part of the tenancy, including chattels. They may try claim the cost, but you could argue that it detoriated, to be fair, that's quite valid - its a cheap vacuum that's used every week.

    2. They should all be the same type of pipe, if you measure it and search online, what do you get? The diameter is what matters.

    3. Suck it up for the $55 last resort.

Exactly it should be wear and tear. Check with tenancy tribunal/Community law
Take screenshots of those reviews to further assist your proof that the vacuum is poor design and quality, not fit for purpose.

Its a cheapo vacuum, the warranty is 1y, noone expects that to last more than 2 yrs for that price, if you broke it within a month or so of it being new thats a diff story.

Also if you do end up replacing it take the old one vacuum and sell on fb/trademe someone may want it for parts

I mean, for all the effort you're putting in, are you really saving that much? It's $55 mate. Your time is also money and you'd have to replace the pipe, which may or may not go wrong. I'd imagine that something as cheap as a $55 vacuum cleaner would just have cheap quality parts all around and break easily.

Just pay the $55, get it over and done with and move on.

Is the wand in a repairable condition? Could be worth trying to fix it with some moldable epoxy or liquid epoxy, depending on the break.

Looks like you're not the only one to have the cheap plastic pipe break. If it's anything close to new (within 2-3 years old), you'd be entirely within your rights to ask for a replacement and you can point to all the 1-star reviews showing the broken pipe. You may very well need the receipt though, and if the landlord has been keeping their records diligently they should have it.

But as the others have said, it may not be worth the effort.

  • You could always mish around the op shops too and see if they have any pipes or even the same vacuum there too! They usually have a few working(ish) condition vacs you can do an organ transplant with ahaha

The nearest ecoshop should have near a billion. Its where I got some awesome fittings for a wet and dry vacuum

  • Yeah, ecoshop mate, completely agree. πŸ‘πŸ»
All you gotta do is to measure the damaged wand and find there the replacement needed. Or just take it there with you, compare it to other options, take the right one.

For a couple of bucks you'll be able to get rid of the issue with the vaccy which is / must be the biggest issue itself in principle, considering its price… πŸ˜πŸ€£πŸ€¦πŸ»β€β™‚οΈ
