    Ozbargain post

  • I bought two of these from him about a year or so ago. Going fine.
Also - isn't it always this price? I haven't seen that $ change in a while.

HDD's prices have been high for about a year instead of trending down, so basically paying same prices as about 1-2 yrs ago with less buying power.

    • also got couple of these about 1.5-2 years ago and doing great so far in the home server.

    • I stand corrected. They dropped $1 tonight.

Does this includes taxes? or will it be on top?

    • Includes, and free shipping.

    • +1

Taxes are included. But make sure to use conversion rates free or low fees credit card. As even though NZ price is shown, it is an international transaction.

Like using Wise instead of BNZ/ASB CC?

        • Yes.

  • Damn, this is a very good deal. I think I bought one of those for 350 at aliexpress last month.
I was wanting to buy another one for RAID… Wondering if I should pull the trigger now or wait…

Sorry if its a dumb question. Can this be put in a case and used as a portable HDD?

    • +1

Yes. Just double check power requirements, which i'm sure will be fine.
Edit: I thought you meant a 3.5 case with power brick. ?

      • Thank you, did some research, sounds a bit of a hassle. I might just get the 4TB portable ones that do not need power.

    • +1

No, the USB-powered "portable" drives are 2.5" models. This is a 3.5" model, which could be put in an external enclosure, but would need external power.

  • Looks like it's OOS now

  • Dang, been waiting for a deal on these but already sold out.

    • Back in stock and cheaper by $3

      • Thanks got 2, although the price came up as $295

  • Back in stock, ordered 2

  • If you are using a HBA to run them, there are SAS versions listed in stock for $279.00. No good if you're using a cheap consumer NAS, but many people are using drives direct off a LSI or similar card in their desktop or on a PC based raid software (truenas etc)

  • Complete waste of time. 16TB FINALLY arrived today… Dead On Arrival. What a joke. Now probably got to send it back (2+ weeks) then wait for them to confirm it is a broken POS (2+ weeks), then wait for my refund to come through (2+ weeks)… this is some kind of money laundering scam.

    • I’ve spent 1000s with this place. Never had a bad disk.

      It’s called bad luck.

      Do any troubleshooting?

      • The POS started clicking and buzzing the moment I powered it on. Seatools tests failed. I'm amazed any mechanical drive would arrive intact with their woefully inadequate packaging. It never stood a chance. 24 hours - and no response from them either, so looks like I'll be commencing a chargeback via my bank tomorrow if
        I don't get a response today.

        • What was your packing?

Mine was a box, with massively thick foam 360 degrees around the 2 disks. Then slots for the 2 disks. It was the best hdd packaging I have seen in my life.
