Good value, I’ll see if it can apply to existing subscriptions.
I use it occasionally to revisit non-fiction, i.e. listen on audible or libby for free, then listen to the “blinks” in a few weeks or months for retention.
They also have full audiobooks but it seemed underwhelming

  • Just created an account and this discount code knocks 1 yr Premium subscription down to NZ$63.12 (from NZ$252.49)

    • That seems way off the $30 price on the page. Even if it’s USD. 75% off posts on OzB have it at A$30-$36.

Apparently it’s around A$14 if you do this offer through India using a VPN.

  • Just wait for Black Friday and do it through India (VPN), the price really goes down to around Rs. 1200 or sometimes Rs. 999

Why does this exist and why do so many people use it? With some of their book summaries being as short as 5 minutes they'd only be hitting the major plot points and character moments and losing all the nuance and smaller moments that make a book good or bad wouldn't they? You haven't read the book, you haven't experienced the story, all you know is the overall plot and what happens in it.

I don't get who it's for apart from students wanting to cheat on book reports.

I have the same feeling, but I assume most people use it for non-fiction.
Main benefit I could see would be to sample a the main points of a non-fiction book before deciding whether it's worth reading further.
Pessimistically, it's for everyone who's fried their attention span with smart phone addiction, and no longer have the focus to read and entire book.
New Yorker article about it, that I didn't have the attention span to finish:

Your post was TL so I DR :-)

  • You can use a VPN and create an “Indian” account using the web interface. The cookies store the location information as the subscription is priced in INR even after disconnecting the VPN.

The above link then brings the yearly subscription price to 900 INR or ~18 NZD, paid via an ANZ CC.

Don't use the in-app feature to upgrade to premium, as it bumps the price to 8900 INR. :

  • Created a 1-yr premium account, using the above discount link. Can share 1 invitation link for $20, which gives you premium access for a year. PM me for details.

OP you don’t need the coupon code, it’s part of the URL.
