  • Maybe their van is off the road, and they are using cars in the interim?

Or perhaps the volume of parcels wherever you are is too low to justify using a van?

  • Which delivery company? Some of those Temu/Aliexpress/Alibaba drop shipping parcels are delivered by cars. I have seen some private contractors doing rounds at lower cost. Have received few parcels like that.

    • one was from australia other was from aliexpress

Aramex uses "Blu couriers" which are just people in their cars

  • Whenever a company called 'Fast Horse' delivers our packages from Temu, they come in cars also. Perhaps smaller parcels, only requiring cars to reduce costs?

    • Fast Horse and Blu Couriers are the "uber" of couriers…. gig "economy".

Some of these logistics companies barely own any assets in NZ so rely on contractors to deliver parcels for the 'last mile delivery', which is cheaper than using NZ Post, Aramex, etc.

This in turn allows them to cut costs and fight for contracts.

My Aramex driver subcontracts out to people (usually in cars) if the volume of parcels is too high or he's sick etc. With Aramex it's a franchise, so the owner is responsible for getting the parcels delivered. Unlike NZPost for example who will provide a temp driver if the normal person is away/sick.

Aramex guy recently told me NZPost lost the contract for Temu, Aramex picked it up.

  • I've got a few from Ali now on fasthorse :) Aramex is quite common as well atm for me
