ChoiceCheapies Is Turning 10 This October. Anyone Wants to Organise a Meetup?

Hi Cheapies,

I have been procrastinating and sitting on it for a while, but do you know that October 2024 makes the 10 year of ChoiceCheapies?! I'll say this announcement on OzBargain on the 7 Oct 2014 marked the beginning of ChoiceCheapies, and it has grown to a small community of bargain hunters in New Zealand.

Historically on this side of Tasman sea, we let OzBargain members organise their own meetup parties, and OzBargain will reimburse the expenses (meal, venue, etc) at the end of the meetup. For example here's our last year's meetups. I am wondering whether anyone on Cheapies are interested in meeting with other users to celebrate 10 years of this website?

Unfortunately I won't be able travel to New Zealand to be part of it. Someone might need to put their hands up to organise the events. I can then talk with the organisers on how we can fund those meetups.

    Wow! 10 years! who is the earliest member that still posts?
    If Wakrak is coming i feel like i should bring a gift, frankincense or myrrh? sorry can't afford gold.

                    1 = Scotty
                    2 = Test User
                    3 = {Deleted}
                    4 = Kiwi
                    5 = Neil

                    I suspect Kiwi (100) is actually Scotty (001), but a transporter accident split them into two, diametrically opposed beings.

                    When they tried to recombine them, they got Neil 'being' number 5 (101) who has been stuck in the 'Referral Dimension' ever since.

                      There maybe a slightly later member who actual has the longest stretch of posting but im hoping someone else can research that as i have better things to do!

              @sunshinenz: Just Scott and testuser before my account. Very much retired from posting but happy to see the site doing well and community growing. The thought of it being 10 years puts a few more grays in the beard.

      @Wakrak told me that he might be able to travel to Auckland if there's an event there, although I am sure everyone would just love to have a BBQ somewhere.
