Zuckerberg has just dropped the price of the Meta Quest 3. The 128GB model is being discontinued once existing stock sells out. Yesterday the 128Gb model was $909 and the 512Gb was up around $1100 on Amazon (the 512Gb is now $909).

Prices are the final total including gst and shipping, Amazon charges in Australian dollars so final price may vary by a few cents depending on your payment method.

The price has dropped because Meta are releasing a new budget model of the Quest 3 next month called the Quest 3S to replace the Quest 2 which is being discontinued. The new budget model will have all the same features as its big brother but uses the cheaper chunkier lenses of the Quest 2 (1832x1920p compared to the Quest 3's 2064x2208p) and apparently battery life is going to be a bit worse on it. Looks like the 3S will be priced around $550 - $600 here and will also come with the new Batman game.

  • 100% Worth getting the 512gb for an extra $90

    • not if you're using it as a PC headset

        • I wouldn't. The pancake lenses of the Quest 3 are miles better than the Fresnel lenses used in the Quest 2, higher resolution, larger sweet spot, thinner - which allows the headset to be both smaller and lighter than the Quest 2, they really enhance the experience.

      • If you need a PC headset, it's better to choose dpvr e4 (almost the same price from Amazon) or pimax crystal light (35ppd). They got dp1.4 input which supports 4k resolution, whereas quest 3 supports usb 3.0 only. Far below the requirement of 4k resolution.

  • or wait for 3s

Sure, but as I said above the 3s is using the same lenses as the Quest 2, so as long as you're happy with the lower resolution and bulkier size of the headset because of the larger lenses they're using then yeah, save yourself $250.

  • Price just jumped up on Amazon from $818 and $909 to $827 and $919.
