  • hot and spicy will only be available where they are concerned about their competition, otherwise you have to wait for the planets to allign and get the promo during nationwide hot and spicy

that PLU is weird, everyone knows its PLU12

    • Could be that it is PLU12 and its just a holding SKU, did think the longer SKU was odd - I should get another alert if it changes.

    • This is the a boneless varient, plu12 is gimme 5 original…. Bones and all.

Are they offering hot and spicy chicken now? I always feel weird that it is an standard option for KFC in Asia 24/7/365 e.g. Hong Kong, Taiwan but not here

    • Drove past west gate one the other day and they seem to be selling hot n spicy

      • Not every KFC is the same. Westgate is horrible. Asked for hot and spicy. Gave me original, went back immediately and showed them what I got and got told it's hot and spicy.
It's night and day compared to my local KFC on the shore. Can't be bothered arguing but never going back there ever again. Don't know if that's their standard or if that's just how they train their staff.
It wasn't even debatable. The skin is completely plain like regular vs the much thicker and "crispier" "blistered" hot and spicy ones. Was tempted to order a regular just to prove my point but decided to take my loss since I already overpaid.

      • Was it hot and spicy or just hot and spicy boneless? Two very different items

        • Actual hot n spicy because the banner outside the store shows the drumstick they usually use to promote hot n spicy.

  • Got told by the Albany store that no Swap on coupon offers.
And crust was soggy, greasy and falling off. Wouldn’t want to spend money to get FC from KFC NZ.

One question has anyone ever had good crust original in KFC NZ anywhere before?

    • Had the worst h&s chicken at KFC Albany few years ago and black listed KFC since then until the deal last month, I tried it again in Rolleston and it was really nice 👍 hot, crispy and juicy!

    • No, that’s just how it is here every store I’ve gotten it from.

Every time you go to kfc you have to check the environment, how busy, staff confidence, estimate how long the chips have been there, how many chickens pieces are already cooked, then follow your gut feeling before you decide to order.

otherwise you will get a different gut feeling after

Even on a mid day with handful of customers Albany one is horrible.
Every time I taste it, I vow never to come back but I’m a cheapies at heart. The deals carry me there to give them one chance and soon reality hits back.

Agree about the albany one. Windsor park is much better. Pretty sure windsor park does hot and spicy all year round (or at least at the moment). Had hot and spicy less about 1 week ago from them.

        • Last week I went to Albany. Staff kept asking customers what they had ordered as if there was no ticket system. It took maybe 15 minutes for a burger and chips and would have been another 20 if I hadn't agreed to substitute the burger for another one. Food was about average for a KFC
          food 4/10
          experience 2/10

  • When ordering through the app, the code adds a "Crispy Five" which is chips with spicy boneless chicken, not the bone-in original recipe. Doesn't seem like this is our favourite deal.

That appears to be correct, looks like I messed up the matching on my side and matched it to the wrong promo - Have edited the post now.
