Stumbled upon this in clearance in store at Hastings Mitre 10. Usually $1179 on the website, selling in store for $589, I bought one. They had about ten left on the floor. Comes with a 5Ah battery which itself retails for $429 (so you're basically getting the mower for $160 if you choose to look at it that way!). Not sure if any other stores in the country will also have the same deal, you could try.

Btw i have a very similar mower from ego and it works great. I think it's the equivalent but with a metal deck. Handles long grass fine. On retrospect i would also consider DeWalt and ryobi as well. Ryobi because they make a scarifier and cheap power tools. DeWalt bc all their garden tools come with free battery promo currently and seen very well priced and and they make great power tools.
However i am very happy with my ego garden tools and DeWalt power tools, ego seem to be one of the best, if not the best garden tool brand you can get it's just a shame they don't make a scarifier.
Yeah I went with the Ryobi brushless one + 18 v set. In hindsight would have gone for a brand sold beyond just one store (bunnings) but have been pleased with them and there is a 6 year guarantee warranty. Don’t mind jumping to another brand for a lawnmower as the batteries at higher voltages wouldn’t be compatible with existing hand tools anyway.
I'm fairly deep into the dewalt system, but sadly their mower's seem to be some of their weaker products.

I just called Mitre 10 in Christchurch - there is none available in any store on the South Island. Called Hastings store, they have more than 50 left at this price, but they are refusing to send anywhere :(
Don't know how to buy it in Christchurch without traveling to Hastings.

I got the 610mm ego skin for $180 less 15% from m10 matched to Sydney tools last week. Used the online price match after they declined too in store.
