  • if anyone checked, how much is luggage?

The ticket includes 7kg carry on. Checked luggage, seat selection and meal can be purchased separately.

  • Can't imagine you can go to Japan with just 7kg allowance, it may end up costing more

    • If you want to keep it cheap can do 7kg there, and luggage on the way back

    • I've done it on one of my visits. Laptop, medicine, some clothes, albeit in summer. I did end up having to do more laundry than I'd planned though - Jul/Aug is insane there, humidity wise.

Other times I've been enroute to North America or Europe and had packed more for a couple of months of travel, so had checked luggage.

Re the other suggestion of buying a bag there, a trick relatives have done is to go opshopping for a suitcase for next to nothing (NZ and Aus), and just ditching it (at an opshop) at the other end. A quick google suggests thrifting in Japan is really good as there are very high standards for what will be accepted.

      • Wait how does that work if you wanna bring stuff back ahha xD

Luggage was $140 one way, but you had to buy both ways - there was no option just to select one way. Also, do not book through Wingie as the displayed price was $867, yet I was charged $932. The price displayed didn't say NZD on the final page which was USD, and possibly because of the exchange rate, I was charged more. The ticket is non-refundable and even though I complained, they just told me to contact Jetstar to change my booking.
