MightyApe No Longer Price Matching?

Went on mightyape to submit a price match request but couldnt find the price match button. Tried searching help center and all articles related to price match have been removed. Is it just an issue for me or have they gotten rid of their price match?

  • Hope not!

  • You're right! No mention of price match anywhere. Even Google links related to price match FAQ ended up at the home page.

    Not a good sign..

UPDATE: checked with them, they are upgrading to a new system to price match is not available by the usual method. Contact chat for any price match queries/requests

  • They also ended the affiliate program(for new signups). They are launching a MightyApe Marketplace next year(modeled after Kogans AU one) and I suspect will become as poor an experience as The Warehouses site has become

  • you are correct, i contacted them about a price match yesterday and they dont do them anymore, gave me some long explanation about upgrading systems, didnt mean much as they dont offer it anymore. i have requested a refund of my 12 month primate subscription, as i dont see myself using mightyape much without the price match option, often items are far more expensive from them, the product i was wanting to price match was $68 from them and $39 from competitor so even with paying shipping its still cheaper from the competitor now. seems like mightyape is gearing up to be like the warehouse website and kogan in australia.

    • Which really makes a lot less sense now with Kogan/Dick Smith/Mighty Ape all the same company selling mostly the same stuff

  • Yeah to back up the other comments this is the exact response I got 'Unfortunatley we are changing over to a new sales force system which doesn't offer the price match functionality so at this stage it's likely we won't be bringing this back in the future :('

  • They've put out a help post about it. (TLDR, gone for now, maybe back one day)

Less known about (I think) is that PB does still offer price match. It's not as visible as the MightyApe one used to be, but they do have a form you can fill in.

    • Hi Bot,

Any chance you could post a link to the PBTech form?

      Thanks,

      Alan.

        • Thanks Bot - much appreciated.

From my reading, it looks like it doesn't mean much?

'… we'll do our best to either match it or beat it.'

You can always ask any store to beat any price you like (and indeed I suggest you always should if we are talking about more than a trivial amount and the kinds of products that PB Tech sells!)

However, I guess some people might be willing to do it via a remote interaction (such as a web form) that would not be comfortable doing it in person.

          • @Alan6984: Is it much different from what MightyApe had though? Sure it was easier, but I've had them decline valid (not drop shipping/int etc) matches before.

I know I've done price matches in person with PB before (though no longer live somewhere with a local store), and know some other stores do it too, but some can be very strict, like only comparing to other local stores with stock on the ground (Mitre10).

But yeah, always worth a try when buying something $$$

@bot: Not sure - I never tried a price match at Mighty Ape due to their shipping be so expensive whenever I looked.

I've never done a 'price match' (or beat) per se with PBTech either, but I have always negotiated the price there (unless a trivial amount). The last laptop I bought (2022) I got a couple of hundred off the ticket price (around 10%), and the last server (albeit some years ago now) a smaller amount (perhaps there is not much margin in servers, or maybe I wasn't as good at negotiating that day!)

Assumed this was coming some day after they were purchased by Kogan.

Pity, used it heaps.. and will mean way less business with mightyape.

Really upset by this. Have been primate for years and use mighty ape at least once a week for stuff. I really hope this isn’t the end of how amazing they used to be.

Noel Leeming chat does great price matching as a heads up! ☺️

  • Looks like they're updating their website soon

We're upgrading! A new website experience is coming soon! Keep your eyes peeled for exciting changes 👀 🍌

    • Exciting.

I'll be pretty disappointed if it's another Kogan clone (like dse).

          It's a Kogan clone, lol: https://staging.mightyape.co.nz/

Remember when Mighty Ape had an incredible range and an incredible website? Now, they have neither. Thanks Kogan!

@whitedusk: Makes me sad. Same thing happened to TradeMe when they sold. We just can't have nice things.
