Security Camera Suggestions

Wanting suggestions for security cameras first time I'm looking at getting one or maybe 2, good overall that don't cost an arm and leg, I like the look of reolink poe, but can you remotely view the recorded videos or have to view on SD card? The Arlo ones also look good but I don't like the idea of a monthly subscription…

  • Tapo is cheap as for what you get, monthly sub if you want cloud storage otherwise sd card needed

Reolinks can be viewed remotely live on their app, and if you have an sd card, recordings remotely as well. POE works well if wired is an option for you.

    • We have some POE Reolink RLC-811A models and they're great. Buy direct from Reolink or through Aliexpress for the best pricing.

      • Yeap I bought from Amazon AU

  • Indoor or outdoor? Wired or wireless? I like Tapo too.

  • We've had Eufy for ages now. Its epic and don't need to pay extra for anything in terms of viewing when ya out and storage wise. Would recommend to put them all on solar too saves the process of recharging

    Reolink or Eufy
Zero subscription fees is the main reason

  • Dahua with considering too

Eufy's been solid for me, but shame you can no longer order through AliExpress. The NZ prices are nuts in comparison.

    • It sucks so bad.. I got my first piece of the setup, the moved and planned to buy a ton from there but now can't.

Any ideas how we can work around it?

Nope. Unlikely to be able to buy from there again. At least in the short term. They had breached all sorts of International Aircraft regs by sending out these cameras without the correct Li-ion battery documentation.

In theory they should be able to still deal in the wired cameras and the homebase if they don't want to step up and actually send battery stuff legally. But maybe they just decided eh too hard, we will stop sending anything.

A week or so back there was a good little war between JB and Noel on these things. Prices approached Ali prices for some items.

Eufy is (or was) basically a copy of what arlo were doing but they've moved on to become a better product. Mainly because Arlo moved to subscription, but Eufy remains free to use once purchased. Team up your cameras with a homebase 3. Drop in a large harddrive and you've got months of storage and free remote access. They have both wired and wireless cameras. Indoor and outdoor. Solar and not. Something to cover everything really.

  • Eufy - the best!

  • Another vote for Eufy. Got mix of wired & wireless cams(6 total) with homebase 3. It's great. If you have an option to go wired, do so. That's best.

Even Reolink or Tapo are good as well.

  • Eufy and Tapo are good.

  • Previously had Arlo and once they started charging (subscription), sold them and moved on to Tapo . Got these https://www.cheapies.nz/node/47337 . Really happy with them.
