  I can vouch for the bissel vacuum, it's fantastic if you don't mind the stand-up design. The hose does detach for trickier spots.

        Your question has intrigued me, as we are thinking of purchasing a Dyson vacuum ourselves.

        Do you find that your Dyson V12 is not very powerful?

          @Alan6984: It's powerful but I imagine a plugged-in vacuum would be more powerful and good for some of those deep clean sessions and this is pretty cheap.

          @Alan6984: I have v12 and love it. Best combo of great suction power and light enough to not get tired. Any other later models are better in suction but heavy as well. V12 pulls more from the carpet then my old shark navigator. I also like the laser feature. Great to see dirt on hardwood floor. Highly recommend it.

        Don't know about the Dyson, but it's certainly powerful, a lot of reviews comment on its ability to pull up more dust than other vacuums

          @ZacDaMan: We have the Dyson v12 and a Miele C3. The Dyson cartridge fills to the top with dirt after the house has been vacuumed with the Miele.. love the v12.

            Interesting!

            If you go over the same space first with the V12, then with the C3, does the C3 also 'fill up'?
