I saw this, too, but Japan airlines don't even fly from/to NZ! Certainly can't book direct through them.

So, I imagine you'd have to book something where JAL is part of the itinerary (e.g., via Aussie) but that'd be bookable only through another airline or third-party (travel agent) - and hopefully this extends to that kind of booking.

    • Yep. I don't consider this a great deal if you're based in NZ.

Just had a quick look at flights between Tokyo and Naha (one of the longer domestic routes) over the next few days and you can buy return tickets for about $250.

Unless you're able to find an absolute banger of a price on a flight with JAL (unlikely) it's not worth it.

      • Agreed! Especially with there's such good deals to go to Japan via other airlines, and most would wanna take more unique (bullet train) or cheaper options for domestic travel, too.

  • You can't even book a flight on JAL NZ website lol

    • Just found you can book now via AU website. Used to be not possible.

      • Not departing from NZ tho

        • If you mean JAL does not fly between NZ and AU then you are right. It will be Qantas flight between NZ and AU and JAL between AU and Japan. But you can still book flights via https://www.jal.co.jp/au/en/
