This SKU is a 48Wh battery so battery might not be flash under heavy load(gaming) or even just watching video full screen for more than 3 or 4 hours.
I'm needing a laptop for a non-gamer - if you may have any recommendations on a good buy this would be appreciated as I have very little knowledge in this space. My current Asus laptop batter is only charging for a few seconds so I'm thinking it's on its last legs. Thank you.
What are you going to use it for / what’s your budget / any necessary features.
I use it for my emails, looking up things on the internet, doing my family tree online, writing letters, excel spreadsheets for personal use and store photos - I'm thinking it is considered quite basic use but I'm out of touch these days. Thank you for asking.
Need you budget/price range?
Also what features you want? Touchscreen?TBH IMO I'd stick closer to gaming laptops regardless, for non gaming laptops you're almost paying the same price for subpar tech, also cooling design means gaming ones will overheat less in non gaming tasks giving plenty of headroom, they'll also feel less sluggish years later.
As you can see between these two, they're much the same but the Asus gaming one is better price for slightly better specs too

You could also pickup a 2nd hand ex-workplace laptop from Beefholio on Geekzone/Gpforums usually priced between $200-$800
Or if you need warranty, service, and support then refurbished laptops from retailers like PB tech/ NZ Laptops@Huntakillaz: Thanks so much! Budget wise mostly aiming for a good buy but would prefer no more than $1000, so having read your insights it seems to me this Asus one is actually probably the best way to go.
Another reason this is great is that there is less 'tax' on goods with value of $1000 (nzd),…. It's all calculated at cart thankfully
Most effective is to buy a items up to $999 Total Value as this is cost effective! Total value of items that exceed $1000 will cost extra tax from memory
