Merrell Moab 3 Waterproof Wide Men's

Hubby is looking for this shoes for travelling in Europe during winter time. It's recommended by Shoes Clinic but they are full price at $299. Does anyone know of any deals for Merrell at the moment? Thanks

  • Looks to be $259 direct from Merrell with free shipping if this is the same one?

    • Thank you but this is a different model.

The cheapest I've found so far is this website with further 10% discount, so it's slightly over $250 with free shipping. This comes with 30 days free return. I can always return this if I can find a cheaper one.

I just bought a pair of the Moab 3 goretex from Dressmart Hornby for $130. Nice very light shoe with great grip, a little loose fitting on the ankles but fine for around town

I love Merrell Moabs. It's all I ever wear daily for the past 10 years. So comfortable, and the soles last forever..

    • Thank you!! This is so much cheaper!!

Hey, where are you guys planning to go? Hiking in Europe during winter time sounds so fun. I live in Europe right now, and I have a pair of La Sportiva TX5 GTX that I'm dying to use. I also love Merrell; they are the longest-lasting pair of shoes I've ever had.

    • We are not going hiking lol. He just wanted a pair of comfy shoes as we will be doing so much walking for 5 weeks :)

Oof - I wouldn't recommend the Moabs for that, a fresh pair of Nikes or NBs are probably better, having just returned from Europe. Avoid Allbirds - my sole wore out so fast with all the cobbled steps.

Seconding jjjj, I have a pair of Merrell Chameleon 8's and I find them extremely awkward when walking on pavement/cobbles. Not only that, but hiking shoes are more likely to slip on wet pavement because of the lugs (nobbly bits), which reduce the surface contact area and provide no benefit on a flat surface with zero give.

I'd recommend a good pair of comfortable sneakers, or possibly buy a pair of high ankle winter boots in Europe on your first day there, they have a much better selection and prices, and the high ankle helps prevent snow getting inside your shoes which otherwise happens to matter how careful you are. (Also treat any snow a possibly hiding a puddle underneath until proven otherwise, I made that mistake only once which was more than enough).

Oh, I walked over 50,000 steps in one day and did it in a pair of $20 superga's thanks to Wakrak. I find I prefer shoes that feel less tight. I don't like wearing my running shoes for walking because it feels like they apply too much compression on my feet whereas the superga's feel like they don't wrap and hug my feet so tight. In either case, the bottoms of your feet will hurt walking so much but it's no big deal and you get used to it. Be more aware of blisters, they are a far bigger issue.

I get Merrells from Brandhouse Direct Au, even with shipping there're usually cheaper than anywhere I can find

Hello! I suggest Aus Running Warehouse - I ordered some Saucony last year that arrived after one week. Looks like they have Moab in stock:

Another vote for Aus Running Warehouse. I have used them for years to get Running Shoes and they are always much cheaper than NZ even with shipping and have more colors.

For Moab, this is an amazing shoe, but as others have said, the lugs can make it slippery on cobblestones.

  • trekkinn have the Moab 3 Shoe from $187.49 and the Mid from $206.99

I have been looking for a hiking boot recently and am starting to settle on these as well, pending a fit test. I note there is a wide spread of opinions on /r/hiking about whether these are long lasting or not, but pretty universal opinion that they are super comfortable.
