Dell 27 Inch 165hz IPS 2560x1440 Gaming Monitor (G2724D) $375 + Shipping ($0 C&C/ in-Store) @ Noel Leeming

Seems to be a pretty good price for a 1440p gaming monitor by a decent brand.

I was really after the G3223Q, but Dell pulled this from the NZ market several years ago. It was overpriced compared to AU. Rather than make the prices similar, Dell pulled it.

  • Does this work well with Xbox?

    Thanks OP.

    • no reason why it wouldn't

    • basically the same, personally I would go the LG

    • Very similar on paper I would check them both out physically see what you prefer

Alternatively, you could get Samsung 27" Odyssey G5 QHD 180Hz Monitor for $369.3 delivered using the LOYAL50 code in checkout. (With the options of another 10% with one of the 10% discount codes, and another 10% for first time purchases through the samsung shop app, which should bring it down to around $300)

doesn't have g-sync though so if you have nvidia you'd have to use freesync which isn't as good.

      • Gosh so many things to consider for a monitor…

Both G-sync and freesync have 3 different tiers of performance so if you're going to argue one vs the other, you need to compare that too (the LG has freesync premium), and in 2024, it's hardly a consideration unless you're in the like 1% of gamers who can perceptibly notice and need to use it.
The only time this might impact a decision is if I had an AMD GPU, in which case I'd skip G-sync. But even then, who cares. V-sync is more than enough for most people.

Besides, that monitor is likely g-sync compatible. G-sync can still work with monitors that don't specify it as a feature, one of my monitors which is freesync, if used with display port, gets G-sync on nvidia cards.

  • I bought this monitor around 3 months ago for $399 from NL. I think its fantastic, nice and bright (up to 400 nits if i recall correctly) and lots of adjustability with an easy interface. Best of all it has no smarts so will never update and aggravate me like my other TV/Monitors/every other device I own.
