Your Thoughts on the New Mighty Ape Site

https://www.mightyape.co.nz/mn/
I'm not a fan of it.

Also, Mighty Ape do not sell items on marketplace anymore. it sucks because I got good deals from there before.

They're making the site worse.

Agreed. That is very much becoming like Kogan website. .

Previous site has a character that is distinct mighty ape but now.. not so much

slow loading, no link to tracking of deliveries, absolute trash

    I miss pre-Kogan mightyape :(

    • +1

      i really do too

Looks so basic and ugly and almost harder to navigate on a mobile device

The change in search/filtering sucks to be honest. I feel like they've removed some filtering options for categories and having it as a non-static bar on the left is annoying.

    Really wish it didn’t change!

Why is there so much empty white space on desktop? Is it because of adblock? It seems harder to browse than before.

  • +7

    It's horrible.. absolutely horrible.

They are also going the horrible warehouse market route.

"We’ve officially launched Marketplace, allowing us to expand our product range by partnering with third-party sellers. This means more variety and choice for you, all from trusted sellers."

Way to ruin one of NZs most popular sites….

    • I have no issues with the market place thing if it was actually done well, but no one does it well. It should be a requirement to stamp in big writing what is and isn't from mighty ape or a reseller and I should have the option when searching to either group by the seller or easily filter out the rubbish. I know on the warehouse the filter is there but it's a pain doing it each and every time I look for something, why have an app if I can't preconfigure the filter to stay in force?

I do like the fact that I don't have to change pages now. Infinite scrolling.

But yeah, I've started noticing a lot of Mighty Ape products on Kogan/Dicky in the last week.

And now mightyape.com.au is only for Aussies.

Absolutely f****** disgusting. I try sorting PS5 games by newest and it shows me a bunch of older stuff. Also PS5 games were a bit cheaper on the AU site but they no longer sell to NZ, I had a game pre-ordered and they didn't even bother giving me a courtesy email to say it's been cancelled. Can't find it in my order history. Makes me wonder if they'll still try and charge me for it when it releases.

Well it's kogan, so no surprises. I think they're being investigated/prosecuted now for not telling customers they're been subscribed to their monthly paid member program or something.

  • i joined primeape for a free trial to test it out the day i made this post
i still have not got my free trial so i talked to live chat and they tell me it could be up to 2 weeks before im able to get the free trial

    :(

lol. Do they need to ship it from overseas?

    • +1

Meanwhile kogan can have you signed up to first and paying for it without you realising in this time frame.

  • +2

its terrible very slow and random page crashes that reference back to kogan.com lol

the new website is soo shiet………..

  • +1

Yep its slow and google search results for product went to different product link.

  • +1

Never had so many captcha and some other random thing with dragging an image before.

Daily deals are just showing sometimes and blank at other time. Reload the page and they may appear for you.

Continuous scrolling. Can that please just go die in a fire already?

More to the point, has anyone tried to get a partial refund on their primate that recently renewed?

  • +1

Bren looking at one of their sales today and often getting "something went wrong" pages oprning items which is proving really frustrating havkng to refresh the page. Also got it loading an item from an email which ksnt great.

Anyone else noticed theyve also removed product reviews?

Still waiting for them to re-open pickups…..

And yeah, the new design's crap.

  • No price-matches or click & collect anymore, either.

    • +1

      wow, that's unfortunate

  • +1

Gosh I wonder how much cash they are bleeding due to this "upgrade".

They might as well have asked my Mum to lead the website updates. Same result, but a quarter of the pay.

    • But they're saving lots money by downsizing their NZ team, obviously

      • +1

        Did they make some redundant?

        • Redundancy is normal after a merger

  • +2

It looks like a website in beta from 1996.

  • +1

Have not got any price drop or promo emails about things in my now singular wishlist either. Its like they are not trying to sell me anything.

    • +1

A great way to stop you buying things is make it so the proceed to checkout button doesnt work properly, but no one would ever do that. Oh hang in they did that too.
