  • Does anyone know of good blood pressure monitor?

Any idea if this Beurer BM27 Wrist Blood Pressure Monitor is good for $55?

    • Omron is good, bought mine in China though

      • Any specific model. There are too many and I am not really after advanced features like smart or bluetooth.

        • +1

I got the Omron U725A, no bluetooth, no smart features. This one has speakers that read out your high and low pressure and BPM, that's the only reason I got it - good for people that need glasses/contacts. Looks like this model may be Chinese text/speech only

    • +1

Not sure on that one but it's similar to the Omron that I have. Older version to this one: https://www.medshop.co.nz/Omron?product_id=587

seemed ok, just one push button to start/stop.

EDIT: this is the one that I have: https://www.chemistwarehouse.co.nz/buy/134798/omron-hem7120-…

    • for home use perfect. Clinical use? eh I would rather listen manually.

      • Yeah, it's for occasional home use.

$20 aliexpress ones are more than suitable. the tech is well mature.

          • @antisocky: Naah. For this case, I will stick to the branded ones.

            • -3

@ace310: You do you. But they are correct. It's not going to be any more accurate than a $20 one.

              • @LupinS: i've tested an ali express one against and omron an the ali express one reads slightly higher

            • +1

@ace310: We have a wrist based one which the MIL bought some years ago. Wife got it when she passed away. It's fine. Cost about $120 in the chemist shop. We also got one off Temu which is an upper arm cuff one, (like the Dr uses except it has an electric pump and a little box thing with the outputs shown on it), Cost $20 and it reads the same. They also sell wrist based ones. They appear to be exactly the same as the 'branded' one we have. I'd be very surprised if they're any different TBH. The only difference is you're paying six times the price to buy locally.

          • +2

@antisocky: As someone who takes blood pressure readings and sells a few blood pressure monitors occasionally
The amount of people i see wanting to compare to their trademe/temu purchase and them being way off would mean id never recommend it
Im talking in the range of 30mmhg out
But the biggest advice please do not choose a wrist monitor they have shocking quality and are priced as such but dont waste your money

            • @Rowjo: yeah that's concerning… 30 mmhg is a bit more than I've seen! :D

            • @Rowjo: YMMV - see my comment above.

Dont think you can go wrong with Omron or Beurer both good quality medical equipment manufacturers of Japanese and German origins respectively.

Bluetooth ones are quite useful for tracking trends and associations though. Especially if you are tracking other metrics like sleep quality, food, exercise, eeg, weight etc. As it can be hooked up to log it automatically.

    • We got one of these Omron ones, as the heath centre used them. They sell them cheaper on TM.

  • Do you guys recommend any of those routers listed?

I have fiber so I assume I just connect it to the ONT and off I go?

    • +1

I can vouch for ASUS ROG Rapture GT-AX6000 as I am using it.Been rock solid for 2yrs+. It's a beast in all sense. Though it's only wifi 6 so not the latest but still very relevant today.

Edit: To your original question. I have this directly connected to ONT and it works fine with fibre.

      • Thanks @ace310, how big is your place and does it reach all parts well?

        • +1

I have router centrally located in 5bdrm 2lvl house. It covers everything inside and outside as well.

  • Perfect my old Xiaomi Mi 34 just had a pixel die, Time to replace it.

    • Can i have your old one please hahaha. Na looks like a good deal on that tomorrow, $200 off!

      • Haha nah it'll become my second screen since my old LG died
        Living on 1 screen sucks

        • +1

Next year you’ll upgrade to 3 screens and never travel the world again. Life changing

          • @Danbakes: haha nah 2's enough 1 to do work, while the other to play movies/tvshows/anime

    • Lame no Pickup, shipping only :/

  • Any good deals for IPS or OLED ultrawide 32-24 inch monitors (curved preferably)?

  • Ninja Foodi Af300 Dual Zone Air Fryer 7.6L Air Fryer

Anyone own one of these? If so, is it good?

Looking to replace my 3 years old air fryer.

    • +3

I have a AF300. The advantage of these 2 basket models is you can cook 2 different things at the same time, but the disadvantage is that each basket doesn't hold much. So for our family of 4 it's not that useful and we may as well have bought a single large basket model. It might work well for a single person or couple.

Another annoyance is that the "Max crisp" function only works if you use one basket. If you turn on both sides at the same time then it won't let you select it (limited to "Air fry" and lower settings)

Any good deals on a 75" to 85" TV?

    • I’m very Sony orientated now as I can sideload any unusual apps I want, such as F1 TV

Considering the upgrade too this year.

Not sure if Black Friday is the best time for TVs or if better to wait for end of model run out each season.

      • Why do you need to sideload f1tv? Thats not an unusual app and is readily available on android tv frkm the llay store. Its also availabile on amazon sticks and can be casted.

        • On my current Sony is says F1 TV by formula one digital media is not available on Google play on this device. I found casting from the app on a phone was jittery.

With the Google OS on the Sony I can work around that. Always used to use an external stick but the Sony has run pretty much everything we’ve asked it to without any glitches.

  • Very tempted by that Philips 4K 50", ideally would love a 43" inch so I'll keep hunting down a deal…

    • +1

Look for 2nd's if you don't mind. Lots of people would be upgrading. You can get a bargain especially when people are moving overseas.

    • +2

They have the 43" version for $435 as part of the sale

    • +1

Could ask NL if this TV is actually in-stock anywhere

      Sony 43" X80J 4K LED 2021 Television $337.97
      https://www.noelleeming.co.nz/p/sony-43-x80j-4k-led-2021-tel…

  • If only ASUS TUF-AX4200 didnt have fixed antennas.

  • Thoughts on Xiaomi-Mi-Smart-X10-Vacuum-and-Mop-2-in-1-Robot-Vacuum
Anyone have used it or know something better than this. After discount it is $499

  • Can anyone provide any recommendations or not for the any of the cheaper phones?

    https://www.pbtech.co.nz/product/MPHMIX01113000/Xiaomi-Redmi…

    https://www.pbtech.co.nz/product/MPHOPP026390/OPPO-A80-5G-20…

Seem to be the better two.

Not the greatest in the world I know, but hopefully closer to a side step from my very old Samsung Note 8 than a downgrade at this point?

    • I'm probably biased but I'd rather get the OnePlus Nord N30 ($268 on sale tonight) as I currently use OnePlus Nord (1st version, can't remember the p/n).

Had a cheap Oppo A-something (bought for ~100ish) and really slow after a while.

  • Deals on…what I want are in-store only which sucks

    • +1

In-store is only for today. From tomorrow its' both

      Fri 15th Nov, 5pm to 9pm In-store only
Sat 16th Nov to Mon 2nd Dec (In-store & Online)

      • Online should be available from 9PM tonight according to the small print

Offers are available in-store only from 5PM - 9PM Friday 15/11/24 with online shopping available after that. Click & collect may be unavailable during the early stages of the sale.

  • Just done my online purchases ;)

Bought a watch, soundbar, xiaomi redmi phone and case for $550!

    • Which soundbar? Looking for 2.1 with decent bass. Don't care much about Dolby support

      • +1

The $99 Phillips one. Its probably cheap and nasty.

        • Yeah things like sound bars, speakers, tv's, monitors I'd rather pay good money and get a good one since they can last 10yrs easy
Tech changes slowly on those now

          • @Huntakillaz: I figure id be able to flog it off on TM if i dont like it for the same price i bought at. And my wife dont let me buy shite and would kill me.

        • We have a phillips one and im hating it. Got it as it did google assistant and music casting over wifi, which it does pretty well. What it fails at is being a tv soundboard. CEC is awful on kt either not booting or taki g ages tk be usable, so we use optical, vut it cant stay kn the optical input and needs tk cycle through all the inputs to get sound. I want to reolace jt but struggling to hustify spending on a replacement.with jiw much use it actually gets.

          • @Everettpsycho: I think i need an encryption key to deciphe your comment 😉 im just wanting louder than my current Sony x90j provides.

            • @L3tstaxth1s: It started well, guess where the baby woke up and needed someone to fall asleep on 🤣 the second half should say:

CEC is awful on it, either not booting or taking ages to be usable, so we use optical, but it cant stay on the optical input and needs to cycle through all the inputs to get sound each time. I want to replace it but struggling to justify spending on a replacement.with how much use it actually gets.

Just remember pbtech normally increase their prices a month or so prior to this sale.

So, most stuff is not really that great a deal.

    • +1

and just remember they constantly change their prices throughout the black friday promos previous years so it may be best to wait till actual black friday

      • Had a cart saved for PC parts for black Friday and everything in it has significantly gone up in price since the BF sale started. Going to wait for cyber Monday and see if that makes a difference:)

        • Do you mean that the price during the sale is higher than it was before the sale? Or that the price is higher now than it was earlier on during the sale?

          • +1

@Detruire: The former. Correcting myself tho in looking back at the screenshot i took, the prices on 4 of the 6 items on my Wishlist were cheaper before the Black Friday sales. CPU, PSU, case, Mobo all significantly cheaper.

  • The Edifier speakers are decently priced
    https://www.pbtech.co.nz/hot-deals/filter/headphones-audio?f…

  • Cyber Monday deals now added - is there a way to just filter those new deals?

  • Can I please get a recommendation for a mid range robot vacuum for hard and carpet floor? Thanks

  • Thanks! Looking at this HP 15s-fq5063TU 15.6" FHD Intel Core i5-1235U - 16GB RAM - 512GB SSD(pbtech.co.nz) - $796 for my son who will be Y9 next year. I think this looks a good deal - can anyone 'guess' if there will be better prices on Cyber Mon based on previous experience….? Also, thoughts on 3yr extended warranty - waste of time or worth it for school kids….

    • +1

Cyber Monday deals are already released. No way to find which one is though. Unless they have a another secret sale this is it.

Personally I don't bother with extra warranty. But I am not an expert so don't take my word for it.
